Right before they made it illegal. Enough to last a lifetime. Just a little bit would go a long way.
Left it in a tool shed when I moved years ago. Went back to ask the guy if I could get it back. He said it wasn't in there. BasTURD!

I don't know a single soul that has any. Where you stay now?

If I were looking for it, I would try and ad in the market bulletin or call the county agent in GA at least.

My neighbor is an old county extension agent. Has some of that stuff in ..

his garage. I haven't seen the first bug on his property.

Back in Statesboro now. Had it when I lived on Wilmington Island.

Treated my yard when we built there. Never had to worry about termites, roaches, fleas etc.
Think it had like a 25yr effective life.
Never looked into getting more

Re: Back in Statesboro now. Had it when I lived on Wilmington Island.

This is what Wiki says about it but I swear you would never take another pill if you watch commercials and hear the disclaimers:

Exposure to chlordane metabolites may be associated with [17]
[20]
The non-cancer health effects of chlordane compounds, which include diabetes, insulin resistance, migraines, respiratory infections, immune-system activation, anxiety, depression, blurry vision, confusion, intractable seizures as well as permanent neurological damage,[25]

I had a gallon of it when we built down here in '82. I applied it...

just the one time full-strength around our foundation (both inside and out). Never have had a problem with termites, spiders or bugs.

Think it has a half life of 30 years. Might be time for another round**

Chlordane was bad chit but it worked. The only real hazard...

from it was to people who worked in the application of it. If the dumbarse pesticide applicators would have worn some protection we would still have it around. Once buried in a trench around the house, nobody was coming into contact with 'cept the T-mites

Same as DDT, bunch of people died of malaria as a result of it

being banned. I used to use clorodane all the time and I have had some health problems but I still think they are genetic.

Re: Maybe genetics with the ticker, however, I'm the only one in the family...

I've often wondered about the genetics of Parkinson's. My wife's mother had it and SV is concerned. There are so many combination and rolls of the dice in genetics, nothing is very predictable.

Re: Maybe genetics with the ticker, however, I'm the only one in the family...

Well, I hope SV never gets diagnosed with it. Other than myself, no one in my family has ever been diagnosed with Parkinson's, though my oldest brother (now deceased) displayed some symptoms.

Way less likely but could have come fro great-great-gparenas a recessive

waiting on the right combination. College genetics was fascinating to me, I was just too dumb to get a lot of it.

yeah, I got about an inch left in a gallon jug. Try to get some Termidor..

It's about as useful as Chlordane. I ordered two pints off an internet site a couple years ago. About 80 bucks a pint I think.

Chlordane and Lindane were good stuff. The half life of Chlordane in soil..

was shown to be 3.3 to 20+ years. I went of one of our experiment stations in Florida in the early 90s as part of a hazmat team to inspect some Chlordane test plots they had; we checked some areas that had been sprayed 40+ years ago and it smelled like it was sprayed yesterday. It may have had some carcinogenic side effects but it was by far the best insecticide ever for termites and the same can be said for Lindane for fire ants.
