Hard to put a finger on it, but right now, if UGA was in Hollywood, it would be constantly nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Like Georgia Tech's role in RUDY. I think back to the respective coach's attitudes and comments about the woofing episode in the Bama game, and I think that is quite telling. Saban unfortunately leaves nothing uncalculated....nothing at all. He saw the woofing as nothing but a negative and a destroyer of focus, and was animated in his displeasure. Richt, thought nothing of it. Advantage Saban.

There is ample evidence in the body of work. There is also ample evidence from other programs - in both directions - about the risk/rewards associated with trying to reach another level. TN, Nebraska, even USC? Even Florida whiffed....twice. Texas? Jury still out since Charlie was left with zero talent. But, the SEC is better when UGA is a "leading man" nominee, that's a fact. And UGA is the only biggee in the SEC to have failed to win a MNC since 1999, not counting the Aggies of course. A lot to ponder.

UGA has a major advantage over each of the programs you listed ... we have no other major in-state CFB program competing for Georgia high school talent. Tech runs a high-school offense, and hardly ever wins with head-to-head battles for recruits.

UGA is uniquely positioned to be competitive at a level which we have never experienced before!

Plus all the population growth in Atlanta. There is just no excuse to not have a great program at Georgia. Also, Georgia is one of the most profitable programs in the country.
