DId you guys really fire Mark Richt?

Gary Patterson is not leaving TCU. So no, we couldn't have gotten him. Unless you're hiring Saban, Meyer, or one or two other coaches that we weren't going to get, there is always a gamble. UGA has hired one head coach in forever, and he had a national title and a hell of a resume. He was fired after five years.

And no didn't think Dabo was the hire of the century
That's just it, seems like the Clemson program was smarter than you regarding their choice and look where Clemson is now. I am going to assume that the UGA program is a little smarter than you when it comes to hiring a head coach. This is a huge business, I don't think the decision for Smart was based on the fact that McGarrity didn't feel like looking around.

To be honest though , when you love something like I love Clemson and can still recognize that's a one in a million shot , I think it helps you recognize how lucky you really are .What shouldn't be lost in all this is he was the best available choice for us , Patterson turned us down , yal never asked..One other point that directly affects yal is the signing of Watson . In today's game one Qb can change the fortunes of your whole program , Watson did that for us , Eason and Chubb together would have done that for you..All this "worship hs players stuff ", look who led in recruiting the last 4 years , those guys are playing for titles. DW was the number one QB in the country , now he is qbing the number 1 team in the country..

Eason and Chubb together would have done that for you..
What makes you think that is true? We had Chubb when Bama killed us (it was one run that got him the 100 yards and 7pts). Why do you think a returning Chubb that we all are hoping is as good as he was prior to injury (for every Gurley that comes back there is a Marshall or Lattimore) and a qb that hasn't played a single snap will make all the difference? Stafford was the #1 pick in the draft and we couldn't win it with him and he was a higher rated recruit (ESPN had him as the #1qb). Our problems are much deeper than a few more skill players. We have always been a finesse team under Richt. Teams that are built on a solid foundation can afford to lose a player of Chubb's caliber and not completely fall apart. The irony of you mentioning Watson is that we didn't even want him as a QB! Imagine where we would be now if Richt had molded his philosophy around the talent available instead of shoehorning a player to fit his model. We sure wouldn't be trotting Lambert out on the field.

If Watson was on your team you would be the number 1 team in the country . We are still a finesse team.Thats one 1 great QB can do .

Richt couldn't win an SEC title with Matthew Stafford, Knowshown Moreno, and AJ Green on the same team. I'm not sure how a freshman QB in Eason and a Nick Chubb coming off of a severe injury would change things. I hope Chubb fully recovers, but I'm afraid he won't ever be the same. Keith Marshall was never the same and his injury was less severe than Chubb's.

Chubb will heal, I think that's his first injury . I just think Eason is a no miss kid .. Had SC not had landed Lattimore and Clowney and Alshon Jeffrey , yal would have played in 5 straight Sec championship games.. They didn't make it to that game but 1 time , but a loss to them cost yal going 3 or 4 times ... In today's college landscape 1 or2 players can change everything., I think Eason is that kinda player..In my opinion , if yal had DW , yal would be playing for NC, it looks like it's miles off , when in reality it never was..

No we wouldn't because he would never have been qb under Richt. And even if he was, who is to say we would have given him a chance to do anything but stay in the pocket and throw? The Fl. game with Bauta is a perfect example of how inflexible we can be.

Maybe not , but a great Qb can change your fortunes, and cover up a lot of your weaknesses ..I'm sure Alabama may find some of ours weakness..The last team to reveal our issues was the dogs between the hedges..

What gets lost in all this , is where I said UGA is a top 5 job .. What I said bout Kirby was because who GA is . That program is respected . It's a better job than Tenn , A&m , Aub , and the love of my life the Tigers .. Their is Fla , Ga , Bsma , and FSU , then everybody else .. You don't hire , Mike Shula , or Butch Davis or the wrong Dooley .. I said the same thing when Bama hired Mike Dubose . The people of Clemson hate you , but they respect you..I know Gary Patterson would have came to ga. I think Kelly would have , Charlie Strong would have dropped Tex in a sec..You fired Richt but how could you say Kirby was your guy .. That's all I'm saying..
Richt was an assistant for a HoF coach and had never been a head coach when we hired him. Smart may not turn out as successful as he was, but there's no reason to think he couldn't given their similar resumes. If Kirby is more competent at hiring assistant coaches than Richt, he probably will be more successful.

Actually, had I had the prerogative -- or any of the other Dawg fans I talk with -- Richt would have been fired two years ago! Need a chaplain, he's your man. Need a team with resolve and the ability to compete at the highest level, you'd better look elsewhere. Expecting Mark Richt to compete with the likes of Nick Saban and Urban Meyer is the equivalent of sending a straw man to fight a forest fire.
Yea-yer...a straw man soaked with high octane jet fuel.

Richts parents both live in Watkinsville....

His sister dates brad Johnson they live in Athens.

This is so, so crazy.......

How did they actually fire him? Blows mind. Had him sealed through 2019 at 4,000,000 year. Surprised they didn't pay him all $16,000,000.00 for firing him early. He only gets 4,000,000.00.

It did for years in the SEC before a SEC Championship Game. "Shared" was the norm.
Shared was not the norm. In the 20 years before the SECCG began, there were shared titles only four times.
