For those disneyRATs who posted here in favor of the mouse

Hard to believe a Republican telling a business what their opinion should be. Maybe he is more Nazi than Republican. Banning books, changing colleges courses to fit his agenda.

Desantis won! The state of Florida is getting many things right these days. In due time, most of the country will come around as well, with the exception of a few shitholes( California, Illinois, New York , etc!

Everybody would be better off if they just plowed it under and planted orange groves. At least, there would be some type of good coming from the land. No kid wants to see bearded princesses and the other debauchery that they promote.
Weird. I didn't see any bearded princesses when I was there last year....

Banning pornography in books at school, removing rewritten history books at the recommendation of black scholars and replacing with what they thought was accurate US history, removing DEI which just creates division. I’d say those are all good things unlike the woke pornography crap the Dems are pushing into schools. He is representing the people of Florida who elected him to do what is right for all Floridians and to look out for the safety and welfare of the children here. How dare he?

And those shitholes will have no tax paying citizens left. Any of them that can escape will and the rest will be on the government teet until the money is all gone.

CA has 11.7% of the US population but contributes 14.2% of US GDP.

NY has 5.9% of the US population and contributes 8.1% of US GDP.

FL has 6.82% of the US population and contributes 5.46% of US GDP.

So which populations are on the government teet?

A tremendous amount of Florida's population is made up of retired people( 22%). Most of those people are not living off the government, they are just collecting SS & medicare back at a fraction of what they paid the government for decades! Give it a few years & check in on California, New York , & Illinois & see how they are doing with their dumbass liberal policies in place! It will not age well !

Generally speaking, it's the conservative states that take in more federal money than they give.

You fell for the leftist media spin of the settlement.... you didn't read the settlement. YOU POSTED A LEFT WING MEDIA SPIN PIECE. LMBO You are so predictable.
He wants this to be ANYTHING other than the surrender it was. The state only gave disney two things. They went on record calling it a settlement and they gave disney a photo op where DeSantis's people smiled and said they looked forward to working with the 'RAT going forward ... a lipstick on the pig moment for disney which allows delusional dims (like the one your conversing with) to claim they didn't get obliterated.

LA and NYC are the largest cities in the Country, home to a ton of huge businesses that operate both domestically and internationally. NYC the financial center of the world. California the tech center of the world. It makes sense that both GDP generation and federal income tax receipts would be highest in these States.

I don't understand the corellation to who is and who isn't "on the government teet." Help me understand.

  • In FY 2022, New York paid $285 billion in federal taxes while receiving $213 billion in federal expenditures
  • In FY 2022, California paid $572 billion in federal taxes but received $558 billion in expenditures
  • In FY 2022, Florida residents paid $205 billion in federal taxes. Florida received $205 billion in federal expenditures

So, NY and CA were top 10 net contributors and FL was net neutral.

There does seem to be a general pattern where states that lean more Democratic tend to be larger "net contributor" states to the federal budget, while states that lean more Republican tend to be larger "net recipient" states. However, there are certainly exceptions in both directions.

A few key points on the partisan breakdown:

  • Of the top 10 "net contributor" states in recent years, 8 of them (NY, NJ, MA, CT, CO, MN, IL, CA) lean Democratic in national elections.
  • Of the top 10 "net recipient" states, 9 of them (VA, KY, NM, WV, MS, AL, SC, AR, HI) lean Republican.
  • The entirety of the Northeast and West Coast, which is predominantly Democratic, rates as a very high net contributor region overall.
  • Rural, lower-income states across the South and Mountain West which lean Republican, tend to receive more than they pay in federal funds.

Hmmm....wonder how much federal funding each of those states get? That would be the real indicator of who is sucking the tax payers dry .

I don't disagree with what you are posting above. Population density and large cooperations clustering in NY and California contribute to their tax collection totals. You would assume many cooperations would move from these states over next 10 years and this would rebalance or reshape. Population is fleeing, i suspect cooperation HQ's will follow as will the tax base and subsequent Federal $$.

On another note, compare the states with largest expected budget deficits (in total and as a % expected in 2024 and 2025), they are the blue states. California has some serious budget issues, the Covid Funding bailed them out in 2021, they are in serious trouble over next few years.

Would you kindly show me how you arrived at these numbers.
I just looked at Medicaid as an example and I find that Alabama has 19% of its population covered by Medicaid at a cost to the federal government of $6.7B.
Then I look at California and find that a whopping 26% is on Medicaid and the cost to the federal government is $109B.
The numbers you quote are certainly in flux as companies flee liberal hell in favor of states with reasonable taxation and safer environments for families.

States with huge cities will always “contribute more” by your definition.

Huge cities are almost always democrat majority voters.

What is your point?

I guess I could make the point that military benefits larger cities as they are bigger targets from enemies? Thus eating more general resources? But I won’t because I think the entire thinking is flawed. As if having a bunch of corporate headquarters in your cities gives you and outsized right to determine leadership???
