Fraud and waste in SS, Medicaid and Medicare…

There’s an interview with Chuck Schumer from 2010. He said claims 1/3 of paynents are waste fraud abuse. And we haven’t cut the “bad stuff” and keep the “good stuff”. The exact same thing Pubs are saying today. The propaganda is so frustrating and the MSM is a willing participant. They are so harmful to te future of our country. I honestly don’t see a good path forward

To reiterate - neither DOGE nor Trump has found a single dollar of fraud anywhere. Not one. They have found money being spent on things they do not like.
I want to cut $2T, but posting this as “fraudddd!!!!!” is silly. And Elon “making publicccc!!!!”… government programs that are/were already public record is more grandstanding.
I posted the other day that, in my experience, about 25% of Medicare payments are either fraudulent, overbilled, or incorrectly billed.
Elizabeth Warren and Dr Oz just had a cordial discussion on waste and fraud. They were essentially in agreement. Insurance companies have been stealing in the neighborhood of $100 billion on coding alone.
Tivoli River - Would it make you feel better if changed the wording from “fraud” to “legalized stealing”? Because whether or not it’s technically legal, they are robbing all of us blind.
It would not. Because it’s not stealing. It’s congressionally-approved funding that you do not like.
I don’t like it either; it’s wasteful. But calling everything fraud!!!!!!!!!! is both wrong and lessens the impact if we find actual fraud.
It’s like the democrats calling everything “Hitler”.
EW and Oz are not the arbiters of what is and is not “fraud”. If there is fraud, then we’ll see federal charges relating to it.
UHC has been aggressive with their M.A. plans, as has been written about in the WSJ for the last year.
Well it’s like the former Supreme Court Justice (Berger?) once said about obscenity, something like, “I can’t define obscenity, but I know it when I see it.”
The whole damn thing is one big giant fraud scheme, legal or not.
Perhaps uhc gets flagged for wrongful billing related to their MA plans …but overall….M.A. plans are winners for participants and government. Yes- much abuse in billing- there is a lot less waste fraud and abuse with M.A than with regular Medicare.
Per those two, They coded something like 66,000 people that already had cataract surgery as currently having diabetic cataracts. They both said that was not possible but only done to receive an additional $178,000,000. Personally I call that fraud. Anytime you knowingly use an inaccurate code for the sole purpose of overcharging, I consider that fraud. Likewise on a lot of the NGO funding. If some of the stories are accurate, I consider much of it fraud. Time will tell.
If your post is accurate, Elizabeth Warren and Dr OZ are either lying or Medicare has over $88 billion in abuse and fraud. They claimed the advantage program had $88 billion in waste and fraud.
Oz loves MA. He knows it does a better job of keeping people healthy than normal Medicare. I am not sure about Pocahontas. I would guess she is not a fan- since it involves a private entity administering the program. (Perhaps uhc should pursue medicine men as in-network providers?)
