The winner of Georgia vs. Notre Dame will be determined by:
  • Establishing the run
  • Stopping the run
  • Special teams
Notre Dame lost its most disruptive defensive lineman to injury. That will help Georgia.
Anecdotally, me and @brollinspff have been discussing on FDL how Georgia's offensive identity has been a pass-first team under Carson Beck.

What I didn't realize until looking at numbers: this season is by far Georgia's least productive rushing team in the Smart era. Some of it is about effectiveness. Some of it is about volume.

2016: 2489 rushing yards in 13 games (191 per game)
2017: 3876 rushing yards in 15 games (258 per game)
2018: 3349 rushing yards in 14 games (239 per game)
2019: 2602 rushing yards in 14 games (185 per game)
2020: 1742 rushing yards in 10 games (174 per game)
2021: 2868 rushing yards in 15 games (191 per game)
2022: 3080 rushing yards in 15 games (205 per game)
2023: 2677 rushing yards in 14 games (191 per game)
2024: 1680 rushing yards in 13 games (129 per game)

Georgia has decided up to this point that passing was better for its offensive personnel. Does that change? Can it change?
That will be fascinating to see.
