Call up Slick Willie, Elon & Donnie, ask him how he did it.
I don't think you can believe everything Trump says but he seems to be following up on deporting criminal aliens, slowing the flow of immigrants coming over the boarder and exposing wasteful government programs. Of course he'll need the cooperation of others to balance the budget and just like repealing the ACA he could get torpedoed by his own party but I tend to believe he'll try to get the budget under control because wasting money is not really in a good businessperson's DNA.Since the deficit increased over $7 trillion during his first term, I'll believe it when I see it. It's hard to believe anything Trump says.
He is deporting criminal aliens which I certainly agree with. I will give him time, but that is a drop in the bucket in fixing the immigration issue. Right now, it's splashy headlines. I cannot consider him a good business person looking at his history and I don't think that it his goal right now. Anyone could expose wasteful government problems; unfortunately Congress never wants to deal with that. But I worry about any President trying to seize control over things which belong to Congress or the Supreme Court. There is no sense in continuing to debate about how he is going about certain things (I definitely disagree with some of the method being used even in the goal has merit). We'll wait and see. With all the problems we have, I was especially excited to see that he is going to lead Kennedy Center.I don't think you can believe everything Trump says but he seems to be following up on deporting criminal aliens, slowing the flow of immigrants coming over the boarder and exposing wasteful government programs. Again, I'm not sure Trump can unilaterally fix the immigration issue and BOTH rparties have had the opportunity to tweak any issues with our system they don't like so I'm not confident that we get a new law. Instead of fixing holes in the system, we've simply been ignoring duly passed immigration laws for decades while both sides of the aisle got what they wanted from the refusal to enforce the law. Generally speaking, Trump is one of the few pols I can believe when it comes to reform and he is enforcing existing law.He is deporting criminal aliens which I certainly agree with. OK, there are some good things Trump would like to do. And, yes, both parties in Congress have basically done little or nothing about the immigration issue. But he has basically said he's going to fix it so we'll see.Again, I'm not sure Trump can unilaterally fix the immigration issue and BOTH rparties have had the opportunity to tweak any issues with our system they don't like so I'm not confident that we get a new law. We also know Trump pushed the repeal of the ACA into the senate where 3 Pubs that had campaigned on repealing voted no. Trump did what he said he would do about building the wall and was fought tooth and nail every step of the way by most dems and some pubs. I'm sure you can dig and find an example but I really can't think of an agenda item Trump said he would support that he didn't attempt to accomplish.
After he was impeached in 1998 he was essentially neutered and moved drastically to the center and governed as more of a moderate than Democrat. He even participated when sacred cows such as Welfare were reformed and cut.And he would tell you to call Newt. Willie got dragged along for the ride and was critical of the effort...until it worked.
My premium went from 340 per month to over 1600 per month with the passage of the ACA. My deductible went from 3500 for my family to 6500 for each family member. My ACA statement says my max out of pocket is now right at 30K and that doesn't include the 1800 per month premium. I literally buy insurance policies to protect me from less exposure than my ACA policy. I don't run my scripts thru my ACA policy because the deductible is more than a Good RX card.OK, there are some good things Trump would like to do. I think it would be wrong to just eliminate ACA and not put something in place to continue to allow people with pre-existing conditions get coverage from the insurance plan. Let's improve it, though that's easier said than done. Trump wanted to replace ACA and kept saying he had plan when he didn't have one. That was a weak attempt to try and accomplish repealing ACA, but call it an attempt if you want. Before I got to go on Medicare where pre-existing doesn't matter, I paid a fortune to keep my coverage and unfortunately that was before ACA got passed.

I'll re-state my earlier reply in the form of a question: who was the last President to send Congress a balanced budget?Newt Gingrich says hello.
From 2021--2 years for Biden---not defending anyone, it all sucksSince the deficit increased over $7 trillion during his first term, I'll believe it when I see it. It's hard to believe anything Trump says.

Donald J. Trump | 2017-2021 | $20,244,900,016,053.50 | $28,428,918,570,048.60 | 40.43% | $8,184,018,553,995.10 |

I would be astounded if the 2025 budget was balanced. I won’t hold my breath.
