Jesus preached charity to the poor from the goodness of your heart. Socialism is the forced redistribution of wealth by taking from those who earned a living and giving the earned income to someone who didnt earn it.
Of course Jesus was a socialist! He specifically excluded rich people from the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus was not a coward and a taker by any means. He does not represent a political affiliation, but if he did he would identify with conservatives who for the most part live by God's word.
Jesus did not say that achieving wealth was wrong; he said that hoarding it was. Jesus did also not charge the gov't with making sure that there were no rich people. He left that up to the individual. Jesus was not a socialist. In fact, Jesus was pretty much apolitical. "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's..."
