A couple weeks ago I was making myself a mater sammich when I discovered we were out of pepper. My sandwich typically consists of white bread, dukes, 2 or 3 slices of tomato (depending on thickness), salt and pepper. With no pepper I gazed into the spice cabinet and saw Montreal Steak seasoning. I had not put any salt on it yet so I used the seasoning. Game Changer. That's my go to for seasoning on the sandwich now. After that I started thinking what else might make this thing interesting. Next sandwich I added a slice of Vidalia onion. Wonderful. Today I did the same but opened up a jar of fresh sliced pickles my mother in law had just done. They are not quite pickled yet so they still have a fresh cucumber taste also. This was good. Thinking about trying a fried egg next. I still like the basic dukes, maters and bread sandwich but these variations are pretty dang good.
Anyone try anything else other than the obvious blt?
