nah....nothing wrong with legalizing drugs....except it's going to kill you ...

The following is from a Weekly Standard article by Christopher Beach and William Bennett:

The great political scientist James Q. Wilson staunchly opposed the legalization of drugs. He explained that “drug use is wrong because it is immoral and it is immoral because it enslaves the mind and destroys the soul.” No society should want unhealthy substances destroying the minds, bodies, character, and potential of its citizens.

We already have drugs that are legal, and they cause numerous problems. There's no reason to legalize more drugs.

Is there anything that isn't going to kill you? Seems a new study comes out weekly about something that will kill you. Might as well enjoy living while you can.
this isnt about MIGHT it kill you...this is proof that the use of illicit drugs IS killing people....and all these pushes to legalize one of them will simply harm the people that are pushing for it the most...the underclass

Prescription drugs and alcohol are both legal. I doubt that applies to pot users, unless the munchies lead to diabetes. If you want to draw a line, legalize pot and not the rest.
There are different ways of killing and dying. Significant pot useage does tend to contribute to the death of the mind and the soul and enthusiasm for life and achievement. Not to mention substituting a certain negative in place of a positive surrounding atmosphere. Just as drinking heavily does. Most of the others (mind altering drugs) do as well, many of them have quicker reactions. Just a sad reality. Shame it is that way but there you go. Not to mention that increased traffic accidents and bodily injury that is already being reported in legalized and areas with increased dependence as well as other calamities. Again tis sad it is that way.

Yep. Again, from the article I cited earlier:

It seems that the American Medical Association was right when it came out with a long report opposing legalization in 2013. Among its most damning findings was: “Heavy cannabis use in adolescence causes persistent impairments in neurocognitive performance and IQ, and use is associated with increased rates of anxiety, mood, and psychotic thought disorders.”

An important new study by researchers at Northwestern University to be published in the Journal of Neuroscience found that young adults who smoked pot only once or twice a week still showed significant abnormalities in the part of the brain that deals with memory and motivation.

Over the last 10 years, fatal car accidents involving people who were stoned have tripled, according to a report in the American Journal of Epidemiology.

Then you should make alcohol, which is more lethal than all other drugs combined, illegal again.

This argument is illogical because it is based in fear. You can't make decisions based on fear. It is killing inner cities.

We can't deal with the drug that everyone uses every day and it kills millions of people.

and yet you ignore the statistics and continue to push legalization of more drugs because alcohol is bad....makes sense

That's a valid moral argument. The only problem is that it's been tried. You can't put the genie back in the bottle. The logical thing to do is draw the line at the substance that are already legal; it certainly isn't to increase the number of substances that are.
