ND. LA is totally

It will be devastating when the reality of what is transpiring all comes into focus. All we have seen is zoomed in camera images, and wide shots of orange glows on a dark horizon, or raging, wind fueled flames! I fear the images when they are able to see what all has succumbed to Mother Nature!

And, now the Hollywood Hills. Insane!!!

Prayers to my friends, peers, and all those in the path of this out of control firestorm. God bless!!

***EDIT TO ADD... On an odd, personal note, though indirectly, our Mother and Father went through a fire when they lived in Laurel Canyon back in '59. Fire got neighbors and went right around their house. Pure luck. I sure pray for all those awaiting for this to pass to see if their homes, friends, neighborhood, community have survived. Cannot imagine the anxiety of it all.

I
I went to see a street in palisades today with a friend checking on her parent’s home & it’s devastating. Also saw some of Malibu. Looks like the apocalypse and doesn’t feel real. It would be like buckhead being destroyed in less than 24 hours that’s how many homes have been lost. And then there’s Pasadena, sylmar & now Hollywood. Many of the areas that have burned aren’t the ones we would have ever expected to be at risk.

What part of town?

I’ve lived in LA for 25 years. Seen some fires. But not like this. Very, very scary. And now Runyon Canyon is burning, Hollywood under evacuation orders.

My family and I are safe, five miles from the first fire in Pacific Palisades. But for how long?

My wife’s boss lives in the Palisades. His house is probably gone but he has no way of knowing. My daughter goes to school across town in Pasadena, and at least two of her classmates lost their homes.

It’s bad. It’s real bad. Pray for us, y’all! I know everyone likes to make fun of LA but it’s a beautiful place with amazing people. And we’re all scared.
Prayers sent to you all 🙏🙏🙏

My understanding is it wasn't an outright refusal, it was that they weren't allowed to raise rates, and then when they couldn't raise rates to compensate for the risk, they declined to write coverage. Happy to be corrected if that's wrong.
This is correct. CA instituted price controls on insurance.
