On one hand there is an element of bipartisan support on many issues. The problem is he won't get all the republicans due to his stances on abortion and past comments on single-payer healthcare. On the democrat side, he is easily the most progressive of all Trump cabinet picks, notwithstanding his prior vaccine stances. The problem is that he defected from the democratic party, and any chance to deny Trump a "win" in terms of one of his proposals, they will circle the wagons as they always have.
An honest vote on conscience would yield a few republican defections, but would cross the aisle with more democrat approvals than normal. Problem is the democrat side will refuse to hand Trump a win, and they will use this as revenge for joining team Trump.
End result: The number of republican no votes will reach double digits, and the Dems will be nearly unified in their opposition because......Trump.
It is kind of rich to talk about RFKjr's drug use 40-50 years ago when Biden's kid brought coke to the Whitehouse, also banking off of the family name is what Kennedy's do. All of Caroline's kids went to either Harvard or Yale, her son went to both. Her son, the one she is always with, is a political correspondent for Vogue and it is a weird as they come.

I'm not a big RFK fan but wouldn't say he was unfit. Unqualified, perhaps, certainly would prefer stronger background in the sciences and health. Regardless, position is more of an administrative type and think he would do fine there. suspect he would keep any of his crazy past ideas quiet.

Agree for the most part, but the reality is the opposition in this case won't be because of Trump.

The healthcare lobby's pockets are limitless and the $$$ is so vast in DC they will get what they want out of the politicians they control.
Fairly sure RFK knows how vaccines work or are supposed to work, not where we agree with his final conclusions , reasoning or theories, certainly up to interpretation.
As far as the healthcare maze, only a few folks that have been working in the accounting / reimbursement side of healthcare for 20 plus years actually understand that maze. No, Trump, Obama, Biden, RFK JR or Levine knows it at other than an elementary level. Why clinics and physician offices pay $ 200K plus to revenue accountants to file, refile and triple file insurance reimbursements with correct coding and related. I'm a CPA, but haven't worked in that sector, kinda wish I would have started in it.
He is certainly could run HHS as good as Levine or Price. How high is that bar is certainly a fair question......

It's not a one size fits all situation. I've never had a vaccine shot in my life because I have had an autoimmune disease since I was two years old and I've managed to make it to sixty six without any vaccine. Had doctors orders not to which got me through school and it's not always your choice either. Many people lost their jobs and careers because they wouldn't take it. No Coved vaccine and I finally caught it 2023. Survived it with no medication although I did lose 24 pounds because I lost all my apatite but I put the weight back on.
So rather than calling people kooks you should actually support people who don't or can't do so.

I'm sure you realize that politics is all about coalition building, including with Trump who is all about draining the swamp. Yes, some of Trump's appointments are all about paying back for helping him win the election. Also, "most qualified" is relative compared to your goals. I'm sure RFK is expected to "stay in his lane", and if he deviates he will be axed. Same with Tulsi. None of us have a candidate who aligns 100% with all of our beliefs so we have to make the best possible choice. I agree with some of the Trump agenda but there are parts (tariffs) that make me cringe, but he was still the best possible choice by a wide margin. He has proven to be an effective leader who can get things done regardless of what I think about individual policy positions.

The reason Trump and so many of his choices are popular and resonating is precisely because they are outsiders. I certainly understand and respect the value of experience but sometimes talent and a new approach is better. In the case of RFK, his view is actually a throwback to a time when our food was safe and healthy and Pharma sought to do good. Not exactly novel but definitely the preferred path.

But getting your medical advice from Playboy bunny Jenny McCarthy (vaccines cause autism!!) is always a bad idea. I work in the medical field and there are people who actually believe the crap this guy says, which is super dangerous (except not to him, b/c his family all get vaccinated lol).
Not all vaccines, or so called vaccines COVID, are the same. The vast majority are good and very helpful but they are not necessarily right for everyone. There are side affects and complications with every drug, shot and vaccine. The COVID situation was mishandled by both administrations to some extent and Dr. Fauci and big pharma were the 2 common denominators. You tend to make very strong blanket comments and it does not endear you to other people. Medicine is not as scientific as people think. It is an art to an extent and there are so many factors that affect people’s health that you cannot just cookie cutter the same thing for everyone.
