The guidance from DOE stating that NIL payments must be proportionate has been rescinded. In no way, shape, or form should Title IX be a part of this equation. The original verbiage of the law never mentioned anything about athlete compensation and we all know that NIL is only going to the revenue-generating sports, and with good reason.
I'm a big proponent of Title IX and what it has done over the many decades for middle/high school sports as a former coach and AD. This is completely different, however, and I'm very glad that common sense prevailed.
