So I'm considering a purchasing a condo/small house in Athens, convenient to campus and Five Points or downtown, preferably walking distance. Basically a place to stay so I could enjoy more trips to the world's greatest college town for all sorts of UGA sporting events etc. However, as I consider this potential purchase to be an investment as well, I would like to be able to rent my getaway place when I am not using it myself. I am trying to learn more about the recent Athens ordinance against STRs, which seems quite onerous for someone in my position. I understand this new regulation is highly controversial, as one might imagine, and basically shoots down my plans. I know the vent has always been a great source... Am I missing something here?
