OMG...Trump just lost the black vote at the NABJ. Wow this is just brutal.

First, the ABC journalist came off looking more like a surrogate for the DNC than a journalist wishing to engage in a meaningful discussion about issues that affect Americans. Her approach was rude, unprofessional and quite frankly not worthy of being on stage with a candidate for POTUS.

Having said that, Trump didn't handle it well at all and likely lost some votes or at least cemented some lean lefties that may have been open to his message. There is no doubt he was ambushed and he did what he does when attacked but he missed a few layups that could have flipped the script.
Agreed. Reporter wanted to make news and intentionally tried to draw first blood. Trump let her. Did himself no favors last night.

So asking about factual things from his past (things he has said and done) and asking him why black people should vote for him because of those things is now "rude"? I applaud her for holding his feet to the fire.

This is one of the few times I have caught an entire trump interview unfiltered or out of context. It was cringe worthy and weird. Like "did he really just say that?!?!"

I listened to it live and knew that he was going to his greatest hit about a reporter being rude as soon as she opened the interview. So predictable. He dodged the question and blamed other things that aren't relevant (the equipment, late to the stage, etc.). Attacked the person rather than answering the question. Typical trump. Ultimate deflection artist.

They could've rolled out the red carpet and brought in a military band to celebrate his arrival....and he still would've acted like a petulant child. Because that who he is. And it's tiresome.

Didn’t even greet him. Just attacked his ass with a loaded question that was more of a super long statement ending with kind of a question. But we agree that he did poorly.

When does a reporter not even welcome a guest or god forbid thank him for being there? Clearly had a goal to become newsworthy. Doesn’t make Trump’s response right. But that girl had an agenda for sure.

When it makes you cring to hear your own words told back to you, maybe you should change the way you speak about people.

Fair. That said journalists can be polite and tough at the same time. She attacked his ass totally unprovoked. Tone would have been appropriate if he was attacking her. But he wasn’t. Instead of hello or welcome she just whipped out a shotgun. Because she wanted to be news.

They invited him. He obliged. This wasn’t a press conference.

Part of me is thinking that Trump doesn't want to be POTUS anymore and is going to tank on purpose. The only reason he ran again on the first place is to "Beat the allegations" through presidentsl immunity. But with the latest SCOTUS rulings it's pretty much guaranteed he won't be brought to trail for anything related to Jan 6 including the documents case. So he's basically a free man so he doesn't need the office of POTUS anymore to stay out of prison and he knows it.
You need to study Trump more. He is a win at any cost personality. He has shown it in business, by cheating on the golf course, and by trying to overthrow an election. He seriously thinks he cannot lose.

That's just false. They didn't greet him to trump's liking.

"thank you for taking time to be with us today"..what else does he need? "Oh thank you you dear leader for being with us today....you're the best thing ever and we are not worthy to be in the presence of such greatness!"

They all could've open mouth kissed him on stage to start the interview and he still would've complained about the question because it's all true and he can't defend it.

It was objectively a “gotcha” question. ‘

Why did you talk to black journalists like that? Why do you talk about black attorneys like that?’ Etc. Lady, have you not seen him before? He talks to and/or about lots of people like that. Obviously she wanted to paint him in a racist light. The real question is just, why are you such a dick?

I'm sorry. Stating facts and asking a question is not a "gotcha question". Asking someone to defend their positions is not a "gotcha question". That's a journalist actually doing their job and we could use some more of that honestly for both sides.

A serious question is why was Nick Fuentes at an event at Mar-a-lago? Why did you say X about Y? Not making a handful of broad, non-specific statements.

Wasn’t the eventual question ‘why should black people trust you?’ What does him treating black journalists and attorneys the same as every other journalist and attorney he dislikes have to do with the question. It’s fluff and filler for the punchline.

Here's these transcript:

"Mr. President, we so appreciate you giving us an hour of your time. I want to start by addressing the elephant in the room, sir. A lot of people did not think it was appropriate for you to be here today. You have pushed false claims about some of your rivals, from Nikki Haley to former President Barack Obama, saying that they were not born in the United States, which is not true.

You have told four congresswomen of color who were American citizens to go back to where they came from. You have used words like animal and rabid to describe black district attorneys. You’ve attacked black journalists, calling them a loser, saying the questions that they ask are, quote, stupid and racist. You’ve had dinner with a white supremacist at your Mar-a-Lago resort.

So my question, sir, now that you are asking black supporters to vote for you, why should black voters trust you after you have used language like that?"

Not seeing where any of this is out of bounds since it all happened and it's all fair game. It's "hey...you said/did some stuff that was widely offensive or plain false. Why should we trust you? Why should you earn our vote?" It's a fair question.

When you can’t address the issue, just try and change the topic!

You want to complain about sexual content in music at a rally yet the GOP featured Amber Rose at their convention? That’s highly selective outrage.
It’s not selective outrage, it’s malignant hypocrisy combined with a healthy amount of stupidity.

What if KH had 5 kids by 3 wifes, and we knew she paid off a male porn star to silence him about screwing her? Can you even imagine that
I agree

The left touting defending democracy for 4 years only to pull this is pretty lame indeed

CNN praised Amber Rose and called it brilliant by the Trump campaign to have her speak.

Good question, what does he put on any of his federal forms?
You realize that they changed all the forms and have removed “bi-racial” as an option.

Of course if he calls himself one thing because he knows it will help him get a job and then changes later to get something else, then that would be manipulative and hypocritical. Just like Kamala. No one is asking her to disregard half of her heritage, she did that in her own.
I wonder what race JD’s kids will put on their forms? It seems of vital importance to your. Also, which of his names they will put down under father. He’s changed his name several times, right?

Not sure why you quoted me. I was merely pointing out the hypocrisy of “defending democracy” by putting up a woman who has won as many delegates as Florida has championships in the last 15 years

Carry on

Thank you for reinforcing my point. The Democrats changed the federal forms to exclude bi-racial as an option to force people to choose one race over the other. Seems pretty racist, but that’s really not that surprising for that lot. What I see as important is when someone change their race to manipulate people for political gain and promotions. Seems very Elizabeth Warren to me.
Seems pretty vital to you that JD changed his name. Do you feel the same about the players on our football team who have changed names?

Over the years, I've been in my share of hostile meetings. Strength and grace can coexist. Toughness and professionalism can coexist. It just takes practice and preparation.

Mr. Trump should have anticipated some questions, that were tough....Maybe even unfair. He knew the world was watching and listening, but he took the bait.

If you want to put out a fire, kill the heat, the air, or the fuel. Eliminate any of the 3 and its over.

This was a simple fire to fight, but he poured gas on it.

You can be tough and gracious at the same time.

Trump will get a higher percentage of the black vote than previous republican presidential nominees. I've never understood why the black population of our country continues to vote overwhemingly for a party that never delivers any results for them!

No, they weren't. I mean I get it. Doesn't matter. Any Democrat that ends up being the candidate will be the farthest left after you listen to Sean and Laura, but it's really not the case.
I only listed some of her stances and flip flops. She has said lots of other radical stuff.
They are just not the same as Bernie’s but they even more radical in ways.

Because conservatives have been openly hostile to issues that matter to the black community.

I seem to remember Jack Kemp and virtually ever Pub admin since proposing enterprise zones. Today's Pubs would like to give children in areas with failing schools a voucher that would allow them to attend another public school or even a private school of their parent's choice. Trump himself worked to overturn mandatory sentencing but also tried to strengthen policing in order to protect innocent citizens that are being victimized by violent gangs in metro cities.

Now, I think it's fair to debate policies that you think hurt the AA community and I'm sure you can cite numerous Pub policies that you think hurt the AA community. However, it's not act like Dems are altruistic angels and local dem governments haven't presided over some of the decline of the AA family structure and helped create some of the current issues.

And where have those enterprise zones been put into place that benefit minorities? Where in Red states are these being implemented?

And school vouchers just don't work and there's decades worth of data to now show it's a scam.

"The last decade of achievement studies have shown negative voucher impacts, with more mixed or inconclusive results on attainment.

Data from traditional voucher programs has indicated that the larger the program, the worse the results tend to be."

And we just had a young black woman murder by police...she called herself who was going through a mental episode. And what does Trump propose weeks later at a rally...Federal immunity for police offers. It's not hard to see what black Americans have a hard time supporting the GOP.

To answer your first question, I have been personally involved in five separate Opportunity Zone projects, several of which provided life-changing generational money to African American families (the land sellers), and all of which include an affordability component, capping the rents of many residential units. Each of these projects replaced dead industrial property littered with homeless and drug addicts with a thriving mixed use project. Thanks to Tim Scott.

Middle and low income families are struggling big time right now. You think they give a shit about Nvidia stock or GDP growth? Bottom line - they could afford to live comfortably when Trump was in office. They cannot now.

And why do you think the black family structure saw a decline?
The structure of the welfare system that traps recipients into a system that punishes them for taking jobs and trying to become upwardly mobile. Also a system that tells teens and young adults from neglectful and abusive homes that they can't help them unless they become pregnant at which point they will set them up with a place to live, free medical care and food stamps.

How many black owned business did this project generate that benefited the black community? Or was this a chance for companies like Blackstone to come in and make millions?

So what you're saying is black people who fought for their freedom during the Civil War and survived reconstruction...thriving building our own communities and banks and business somehow just decided to go for the easy money of a few dollars from the government? Have you ever thought that maybe it was Jim Crow, being locked out of loan capital, homes being devalued, under investment in education, War on Drugs, over policing, and over sentencing maybe the cause of the decline in some black areas? The GOP is holding up a bill to help black farmers declined loans due to discrimination over the decades...why does the GOP refuse to fix the problems in the black community created by racist white people?

Glad you asked. Mr Gilchrist, who has been running a tow service in Charleston for two generations, re-invested his money and bought several convenient stores / gas stations, and hired African Americans.

The restaurants and the apartments employ a lot of African Americans, to say nothing about all the African Americans working on the construction project itself.

The "big bad wall street firm" benefitting is how the world works. No one is going to finance a project that doesn't work. Would you prefer the industrial buildings to sit there vacant?

You are proving my point using the typical Democrat line, villifying "Big Corporations" making money, completely losing sight of the fact that improving anything requires corporate investment. This kind of political rhetoric buys votes to the detriment of the folks they supposedly serve.

Furthermore, there is a snowball effect, as the improving area attracts more corporate re-locations, driving job growth in the area.

Simply hasn't been tried on a large enough basis with the time for things like charter schools to be created or private schools to be able to commit to investing in troubled areas. We absolutely know for a fact that it's been Dems and school unions that have attacked charter schools that are producing successful students that have the potential to start improving the chances for successful communities.

And where have those enterprise zones been put into place that benefit minorities? Where in Red states are these being implemented?

See @lowcountrydawg post from above. These projects are usually targeted in areas that leaders are trying to revitalize.

And we just had a young black woman murder by police...she called herself who was going through a mental episode. And what does Trump propose weeks later at a rally...Federal immunity for police offers. It's not hard to see what black Americans have a hard time supporting the GOP.
Bad look for sure but federal immunity would do nothing in this case as the murder will be charged by the state. You are correct though and we do need to find a way to start the process of citizens that live in high crime areas to begin trusting the police and becoming committed to taking violent criminals off the streets and keeping them off the streets.

In the case of policing, the cops that are usually involved in these blue criminal incidents are working in Dem ran cities with Dem mayors, police chiefs and prosecutors. This issue predates Trump and Trump actually has a pretty good record with trying to reach out to the AA community regarding policing. The sentencing guidelines would be one thing I think was generally supported in the AA community .

The black and minorty communities have been hearing about these initiatives for decades and they only enrich corporations instead of the community seeing the majority of the benefit.

Yes great track record by pushing federal police immunity? 😅

Trump is a con-man and the black community sees that. You guus have to resort to third rate rappers and video h&$@ for your black out reach. Saying black people will back him now because he's a felon...GTFOH. And repeating the line about black jobs is disrespectful to black Americans I don't know what to tell you.

"Opportunity Zones were created under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (Public Law No. 115-97). Thousands of low-income communities in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories are designated as Qualified Opportunity Zones. Taxpayers can invest in these zones through Qualified Opportunity Funds.Nov 2, 2023"

Of course, these zones are part of the Trump tax cuts that will be allowed to expire under Kamala. So, when they scream that all the tax cuts went to the wealthy, this is part of those taxes. Take those tax cuts away and people will stop investing in these areas.

"States may designate up to 25% of low-income census tracts as Opportunity Zones. Opportunity Zones were created under the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, signed into law by President Donald Trump. The first Opportunity Zones were designated in April 2018."

I just gave you a specific example of projects I led. Had the OZ not existed, there would be a vacant industrial building employing no one. As it stands, I just gave you a real example of 50+ African American jobs that would not have existed otherwise. And your response is that you don't like it because a large corporation also benefited, and in doing so had to pay a bunch in both property, income, and capital gains taxes? Help me understand the logic here.

No, not what I'm saying at all. Jim Crow was horrific but during Jim Crow the AA community had much higher rates of 2 parent families and even though Jim Crow severely limited AAs from fully participating in the white economy, they were able to build their own community to some degree.

Having said that, the decline of the AA family began when the welfare system started taking fathers out of the home and the system evolved into an economic trap. Do you know that a person receiving food stamps and other assistance that takes a job will have them entirely cut off if they reach a certain income level that is well below the level it takes to live? So, instead of promoting the idea of advancing to become self sufficient and gradually lowering benes as income rises, the recipient has to decide whether they want to take what the system provide or take on the expense of food, shelter and medical insurance. That is what I'm talking about.

You're 100% right I don't see it as a net gain when larger corporations come in and exploiting these communities and would rather see a programs that invest in minorty local companies and entrepreneurs that way the money stays in the community. This isn't new and what black Americans have wanted for hundreds of years.
