Ever since Kirby got here, about 90% of the time entering the Tech game, we had a monster game in the SEC championship coming up. This year:
1. Most likely no SECC next week to prepare and rest up for
2. Night game in Sanford - crowd should be jacked considering the stakes of the outcome
3. Playoff berth on the line - possibly even a home playoff berth
4. We won't be resting any starters to heal up for a big game next week. We will probably be playing guys who are beat up knowing if we win we will get 3 weeks of rest
5. Unlike them, we don't have a conference who protects us from targeting calls and having suspended starters. If I remember from last year we had at least one who had to sit out a half. No targeting suspensions for us this year.
I'm firmly in the camp of not wanting us in the SECC because there would be so much to lose and so little to gain. I think this game sets up great for us and is a different mindset than we have had for the game in quite some time. I think for once Tech might get OUR best shot because so much is on the line for us and there is no tomorrow if we lose. So many times over the last decade we only had to bring our B game because it was good enough to beat them.
I was impressed with Philo's ability to throw the ball downfield. I think they will challenge us for 2-3 quarters. Hopefully they will continue that idiotic plan of two-platooning the QB's. Any down with an injured King at QB makes it much easier on our defense. If I were the coach Philo would be the QB full time. They are much more dynamic with him.
Can't wait for the game. I think we will win but it will be a battle depending on which offense of ours shows up. However I like how the game sets up differently for us this year.
