I think the broader point beyond donating to democrats and turning from Trump is that his MO seems to be “protect democracy”. And I think that it is a legit ask for democrats to tone down the rhetoric. Psycho or not. That seems to be the motive to kill the ex President and current candidate. You totally missed my point (one I'm not really trying to prove just providing an opinion). Was not looking for any bites. Guy definitely had issues and issues enough with trump that he went full spectrum. It is a sad day. But...That is true TDS if some guys are looking for it.

You aren't unless you hold a class 3 FFL which requires extensive background checks. You are allowed to own semi automatic weapons which ranges from small handguns to large caliber rifles. Semi auto weapons are popular because they are excellent self defense weapons.
