I was one of those who was concerned about expanding the playoffs watering down the regular season. That said, I remember the anticlimactic feeling I would get after early November in past seasons. Outside of a couple of meaningful and potentially competitive conference championship games, most of that last month of games felt like we were just waiting on the inevitable, with only a handful of meaningful games left - particularly since the dawgs have been competing at a championship level.

At this point in the season, the average cfb fan has to feel optimistic when it comes to the number of relevant games left that will have an impact on the field of 12. On the same token, the sting I felt after last week's heatbreaker against the tide was as sharp as ever. I think it will take more than one season to truly know what the impact of expansion has had, but I'm encouraged by how this season has felt, the dawgs' offensive and defensive issues notwithstanding.
