So carrier is laying them off and its Trumps fault? Just trying to figure out how a decision made prior to his election is his fault.
Just trying to apply logic. They weren't betrayed by Trump, he doesn't own Carrier. Nor can he force them to make any decision. The economy of our country is making that decision.
The decision was made on Obama's watch. So who betrayed who?
I guess we could raise the minimum wage or have the unions strike the plant to force higher wages....... that will help keep the plant in the U.S.
Blame our taxation and government regulations. Blame the unions. They are the ones who have help drive up cost of labor. The union bosses should be tarred and feathered.
Or heck, relocate to Illinois. Should be able to pick up land pretty cheap there. Go non union and the labor rate will be competitive.

If he's going to take credit for keeping workers on then he has to take credit when they lay them off. We are talking about a corporation moving operations due to its inability to make money making its product in this country.
They made this decision during a prior presidents reign.
They made an attempt to keep it in the country based on the current sitting president working to make corp America more profitable staying here.

I am confused. If you want jobs to stay, the profits must improve. If profits improve, the rich get richer. You can't have one without the other. Otherwise, it isn't worth the risk.
The policies of a socialistic economy and a rich versus poor mantra run companies out. They can then sell cheaper products here to the common man who can now purchase the product.
So yes, a sitting president can lure them back. Just as a sitting president can run them away. If socialistic policies are promoted, as with the Democratic party, yes, the blame lies at their feet.
Trump has had success getting corps to rethink moving. But he can't control the wages and he can'take wave a magic wand to fix the irresponsible health care program.
It chokes the corps dry.
Fix the economic incentive and they stay. The current president is trying. At least he is trying.

Tell me one single time that a recent Dem president worked to keep jobs in the U.S.? And in trying to keep them, promised to work to make the playing field level. He hasn't been president for a year, yet a couple of companies have decided to stay. He doesn't own them, they make their decisions.

Correct me if I am wrong. So before Trump/Pence got involved in the Carrier situation, they were going to close the plant and send all the jobs to Mexico. Trump and Pence said they negotiated with Carrier who said they would keep most of the jobs in Indiana. Trump bragged that they had saved 1100 jobs but there were 300 management obs that were never going to be moved in the first place.
So Carrier(according to Snopes) is keeping 800 jobs here plus Carrier is investing $16M in its Indiana factories. So it still qualifies as a win for DT/Pence.
What bothers me is the left is rooting not only against Trump but also America. They seem joyous that less jobs were saved than originally thought.

Wrong again. They were moving jobs to Mexico. Carrier has 28 plants in the US and they weren't moving all of the plants to Mexico. Good try but wrong again.

Wrong again. The jobs they gave the huge tax breaks for are now going to Mexico. Now PW said trump stopped companies from moving to Mexico. The whole company of carrier was never going to Mexico do has had nerve stopped a company from going elsewhere. Hell, the jobs he was supposed to stop are still going.

Snopes says 300 of of the jobs were white-color positions and CBS says 400 were white-color and were never going to leave.
So whether it is 700 or 800 jobs saved, they were in fact saved. Also u are leaving out as part of the deal, Carrier was going to invest $12M in its factories in Indiana. Still a win for Trump and I know u hate it, but every little bit helps the country.

The jobs he "kept" are now moving out so you should keep up with current events also. I'm sure carrier appreciates the tax breaks trump/pence gave them and still moved jobs to Mexico though. No difference is instead of 1100/1200 being saved that Trump and Pence originally touted, in reality only 700/800 are being saved out of 1600.
Also what do you think is going to be the result of that $12M that Carrier will be investing into their factories........................efficiencies that will lead to more layoffs. Oh and another thing that $12M that Carrier will be using to invest in their factories where did that come from?

Trump claimed they saved 1100 jobs and was mistaken because 300 were management jobs that were never on the chopping block. But the 700 or 800 jobs remaining were. As for the $12M investment, who cares where it comes from. it will probably be used to increase efficiencies with automation, etc. That might lead some lower end jobs being cut but lower costs also leading to greater demand and maybe an expansion of the plant. The remaining jobs should be better paying jobs that are more valuable to the company
Still better than everything being moved to Mexico.

So let me get this straight.........
1)Carrier tells Trump/Pence I'm shutting down this plant and moving production to Mexico if you don't pay me
2)Trump/Pence fold and give Carrier a $12M tax break to keep the plant in America
3)Carrier agrees to keep the plant open and not move to America
4)Trump/Pence rejoice and claim they've saved 1100 of the plants 1600 and #MAGA
5)Carrier CEOs laugh their a$$'s off not believing they've actually con'd 45 into believing they we're going to save as 1100 because in actuality 400 of those 1100 were never indanger of moving so they actually only saved 700 jobs
6)On top of that Carrier also is getting $12M dollars from 45 to invest in plant efficiencies meaning some of those 700 jobs will be made redundant.
So in the end of those jobs as of right now 700 saved to the tune of $17,142 per job government bailout. Wow doesn't sound like such a good deal for America if you ask me.
Every source I have seen says they saved 800 jobs except for the CBS report in the OP but I will use your number of 700 and a low tax rate of 10%. Assuming an average salary of $50K/yr for 700 union people that equates to a total of $35 Million of income for all 700 employees per year. Assuming 10% taxes between state and fed govts, this equates to $3.5M income/yr for state and fed governments. That doesn't include sales taxes, personal and business property taxes, and other misc taxes. ACTUAL TAX INCOME WILL PROBABLY BE MUCH MORE.
In addition, Carrier commits to invest $12M into Indiana manufacturing.
To get this, Carrier gets a tax break of $7M or $700K/yr for 10 years.
So it is obviously a good deal for the state of Indiana.
