Read an interesting comment, regarding malaria treatment for COVID-19

Again, let me point out that doctors started prescribing chloroquine "off label" (IE, for non-FDA-approved use) treatment against COVID-19 before Trump even heard about chloroquine. There is good reason for that. COVID-19, also called SARS-CoV-2, is very similar to SARS-CoV-1, also called SARS. After the outbreak of the FIRST novel coronavirus, the SARS outbreak in China in 2002, studies were done using chloroquine and it was found to inhibit the spread of the virus. With the success of those studies, it is only natural to have some hope that the drug can be used to treat SARS-CoV-2 as well. Which is why doctors much smarter than either one of us started prescribing it already. There are already promising, albeit "anecdotal", results from various studies in multiple countries in regard to it's ability to help treat COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2.
