Good morning UJD, 911, and all you truly good yet deplorable Dawgs (you know who you are and who you ain’t)………It’s “be thoughtful” day……It’s really not, I just made that up……but I challenge each of you to pick up the phone, call your mom, or your dad, or you brother, or your sister…….Make them feel good…..It’ll make you feel good too, I’ll guarantee…….And don’t let your guard down regarding this China virus we’ve all been hiding from for the past month….. …Take care my friends……..

UGA SPORTS:

I’m gonna mention a Dawg great in the UGA football spotlight section this morning, just to make sure at least something Dawg is mentioned today in this “DAWGChat” forum………Today’s DGD in the spotlight is former Dawg Running Back Knowshon Moreno………..

Moreno grew up in Belford, a neighborhood in Middletown Township, New Jersey……….At Middletown High School South, he led his team to three Central Jersey championships…….He rushed for 1,629 yards on 153 carries and scored 28 touchdowns in 11 games as a senior……….He finished his high school career with 6,268 career rushing yards, 128 touchdowns, and 768 points………….His rushing yards are second all-time in New Jersey high school ranks, while he is New Jersey's all-time leading scorer………..He rushed for 420 yards and seven touchdowns in one game against the Neptune Scarlet Fliers…………And he rushed for six touchdowns against the Monmouth Regional Falcons…………..He was the #10 high school running back prospect and the #73 overall prospect in the United States coming out of high school according to Rivals………

2837202111_5e95777240_b.jpg

He signed with UGA, and took a redshirt his true freshman year (because of his inexperience in blocking, not his running ability)…..He made all UGA fans take notice of his talent immediately in his redshirt freshman year……… He joined Herschel Walker as the only player in Georgia history to rush for 1,000 yards in his freshman season……Moreno was the first Georgia tailback since Herschel Walker in 1982 to rush for over 100 yards in five straight games……. He was named onto the all-SEC first team and was the unanimous SEC Freshman of the Year……..He was the featured tailback on the Freshman All-American first team and was named to the All-Freshman SEC team………..Sporting News named him Freshman Offensive Player of the Year……….Moreno finished the season with 1,334 yards on 248 carries for 14 touchdowns…………He also added 253 receiving yards on 20 receptions………Not a bad collegiate start at all………

ec093841b1241c91946d913733128725.jpg

He didn’t let up his sophomore season, as he finished the season with 1,792 yards of total offense (1,400 rushing on 250 carries and 392 yards on 33 receptions) and scored 18 touchdowns (16 rushing, 2 receiving)………..He was named the team's offensive MVP………..He finished second in Doak Walker award voting, behind Shonn Greene……….He was named first-team All-SEC for the second consecutive year, and was a second-team All-American selection……..Nobody in college football was as hot as a firecracker as was Knowshon Moreno……

Then, on January 7, 2009, Moreno announced that he would enter the 2009 NFL Draft………His football career at UGA was over in just two playing seasons……He had amassed 3,400 yards of offense and scored 32 TDs…….Lordy the records he could have broke had he not cut his UGA career so short…….He left UGA with two 1000+ yard rushing seasons, thirteen 100+ yard rushing games, and he averaged 5.5 yards gained every time they handed it off to him for the entire two years…..

Knowshon was selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos…….His Pro career saw him injured a good bit, but still had over 5000 yards rushing and receiving and scored 36 TDs……..His NFL career was only 5 and a piece seasons, short like his UGA career……But he still put up some dang good numbers at both stops……..He was one more talented back…….And he was a DGD too……

TODAY’S @$$HOLE OF THE DAY:
1hh5qj.jpg

I have a few good options today, but I’m going outside the United States today, because we’re not the only country in this world with crazy SOBs running around……This particular nutcase lived in the Land Down Under, and his story is sad, horrid, and about as bizarre as it gets……His name is Martin Bryant………

Martin was a problem child…..He would break his toys……He was disruptive in the classroom……..He was violent at times, probably as a result of being bullied……He tortured animals…….He would aggravate people to such an extent that he would always be in trouble……. His mother even stated he was an annoying child……..When he was suspended from school, he underwent some psychological assessments, with the opinion that Bryant would never be able to hold down a job…….He was placed in a special-education class but his academics and behavior got even worse……He ended up quitting school, and was the recipient of a disability pension wiih the help of a psychiatrist who wrote, “Cannot read or write. ….Does a bit of gardening and watches TV ... Only his parents' efforts prevent further deterioration……. Could be schizophrenic and parents face a bleak future with him."

900

Later in his teenage years, Martin got hooked up with a filthy rich much older lady who lived in a mansion nearby……She had won a mega-lottery……..Soon Martin moved in with her……They spent money left and right (example: bought 30 cars in 3 years)……The lady was killed in a car accident and left Martin the remainder of her winnings. (over $500,000)…… Martin‘s taste for new cars changed to new clothes…….But he now looked more like a pimp in New Orleans at the Mardi Gras…..Everyone laughed at his clothing………Then his dad died and left him over $250,000……But Martin was taking the loss of his lady and dad very hard about this time……

Martin decided to travel, which he did for several months……But that didn’t help…….He had become suicidal and drinking heavy……..Then he broke, he went to a Bread and Breakfast Inn that his dad wanted to purchase…….He shot the husband and wife owners dead, went to his car, drove to a restaurant, ate a meal, then went to shooting other patrons as they were eating…..He went outside and killed others, even chasing down a fleeing old woman and killing her…….When it was over, he had murdered 35 people and injured 23 others…….

He was determined to plead ‘not guilty’, but his lawyer finally convinced him to plead guilty…..He did, and the judge gave him 35 life sentences, plus 1,652 years in prison, without the possibility of parole, all of which is to be served concurrently……He’s currently rotting in Risdon Prison……..

55bc41a932d2439ad0bd8aaa28a9fd2a

I woke up yesterday not knowing who Martin Bryant was or what he did…….This morning I’m anointing him @$$Hole of the Day on the 24 Year Anniversary of the Massacre…….He may have been bullied as a child, but I’ll never understand why someone just shoots innocent people, warped mind or not..........I can't help but think that i few @$$ whippings lke I got growing up and a few thousand dollars less for him to splurge on might have made a difference.......BTW, the psychiatrists determined Martin was not mentally ill.......He was just a mean-@$$ young-un…….He’ll never get out of prison, but those families involved will never get over the pain of losing their family/friends…….I hope the sorry SOB burns in hell, sooner rather than later……..Martin Bryant is today’s AOTD, and he can KMA…….

As always my good Dawg friends, I hope y’all have a Great Bulldawg Day…..Stay Safe…..help MAGA…….and God Bless…….

rch, your morning post is right up there with a Big Kahuna burger for breakfast. Thank you.

My favorite tidbit from today's post is the mention of American hero, WH Carrier, for giving us air conditioning 106 years ago. Those who coined the rallying cry, "The South shall rise again" obviously foresaw Carrier's game changing contribution.

I can remember, as a young lad, the days of no air conditioning.......Seems like the days are much hotter now, as I don't know if I could make it now-a-days without A/C...........I remember our first A/C.........It was a Fedders heating and cooling window unit.......That thing worked for 25 years........Only good for one room though.......

Why did Carrier set up shop in Syracuse, NY? 65

Y'all can thank one of my favorite Athens bartenders (and people), "Ron Dude", for Knowshon. He knocked a waitress gal up and moved to New Jersey with her where her mom was raking it in with an admissions test prep school. Knowshon went there and "Ron Dude" was always hanging around the testing center, which doubled as their home. Moreno got an offer from UGA but it was really only semi-serious. However, "Ron Dude" worked on him and and worked on him till he talked Knowshon into going down there and checking Athens out. Richt didn't really think Knowshon was that serious about signing (and maybe Knowshon wasn't) and wouldn't fly him down so "Ron Dude" talked him into taking the train down to Georgia from New Jersey. Knowshon had never left New Jersey. One trip down to Athens and he was hooked. So props to "Ron Dude" for working hard on Knowshon and selling Georgia like a champ.

Was visiting my 92 year old mother the other day and she was reminiscing about our time in Sandersville. I said speaking of Sanderville and showed her your morning post. She enjoyed it, mostly the AOTD award.

Bless her heart.......She's part of America's Greatest Generation, just like my parents..........There's never been a greater generation, and there will never ever be one greater.........The older I get, the more I admire those folks.....Please give her a hug for me......

My favorite tidbit from today's post is the mention of American hero, WH Carrier, for giving us air conditioning 106 years ago.

While putting these things together the day before, I learn so much.......On this edition, two things top my list......

One is that Aloha Airlines jet.......How did only one person die?.....How did the pilot land that thing?............

The second one is the DD rehearsal aka Tiger.......I'm ashamed to say that I did not know about this......We lost 750 men just practicing for DDay.....Wow!!.......

Good to see Tommy Caldwell's name too.......Him and Toy made the Marshall Tucker Band.....when both of them died at an early age, the band went South in a hurry......
