HW Bush was probably the most qualified VP or President ever, at least in modern times, whether you liked his politics or not. And most important in Reagan's 2nd term as it was obvious Alzheimer's was beginning to kick in. Felt sorry for him at Iran Contra hearings. Reagan would get so confused, couldn't find pages in the binder of testimony, did not even know who Robert McFarlane was, etc. (and Ollie North's boss) Judge kept trying to give hints. Even when judge finally said "national security adviser" Reagan had a blank look on his face. I thought then, thank goodness HW was VP.
At least Reagan was man enough to take the oath when testifying. And testified on his own without a partner. Something Cheney and W wouldn't do. Go under oath or testify separately.
i don't know. After watching that first presser where he descended from the escalator, insulted everybody, I thought he was on some team, but hard to tell which one. Either one, with that rhetoric, could be destroyed by him. All on a world stage where decorum matters, to show we're better than the rest of these countries as we've always proclaimed.
I think his campaign took off unexpectedly, his ego decided to go with it and to hell with all of them, he'll take it if it's given. It was just a couple of years ago people didn't think Christie could ever be president because of his temperament. Trump took it to a whole new level.
