So much for the millions in savings from DOGE…

Compelling and rich commentary from you.
Can’t comment on the story, so attack the messenger. Next level there.

They just passed a budget resolution in the House to give millionaires $4.5T in tax cuts and cut $2T in spending, of which $880B comes from Medicaid, so guess I just made that up?

If current bill lapses, 62% of Americans will see tax increase. The average tax increase willl be $2,900.

Thinks “gut Medicaid” part may have thrown a few off. Sounds like they are getting rid of the fraud. Pretty sure I can’t argue with that.
DOGE is supposed to be uncovering fraud and so far they have found none. Spending that you disagree with isn’t fraud.

No question there is fraud to be found in Medicaid. But as I’ve said multiple times now, if the GOP were serious about the deficit, they wouldn’t be proposing massive tax cuts that will almost entirely benefit the top 1% of our country while working to gut programs that benefit the poor and middle class. It would be reasonable to ask everyone tighten their belts to get on top of the debt situation, but instead we are going to continue the most massive transfer of wealth to the already wealthy in the history of the world.

We should take Trump at his word when he says he wants a return to the Gilded Age. Too bad people in this country are too stupid to understand what that means. I’ll give you a hint, it wasn’t a great time for anyone other than the rulling elite.

And oh yeah. The $880 billion is through 2034. The advantage program was losing $100+ billlion/year in fraud (cnbc report says it could be MUCH higher). Correcting that alone more than covers the “cuts”. I’m sure there is more that can be done through efficiency and cutting waste, fraud and abuse.

Almost entirely ?

How do you think we pay for $30T in debt? Cutting Social Security from retirees? Hate to break it to you, but increasing taxes on millionaires is step 1 to getting the deficit under control.

That’s what the Treasury analysis determined, yes.

You are mixed up buddy. Biden was the one that made the rich richer and the middle class poorer. Under his leadership we had 2 classes of people the elite rich and the poor.

February 18, 2025 Trump says: “Medicare, Medicaid — none of that stuff is going to be touched,” in an interview with Sean Hannity. “We won’t have to.”

February 25, 2025, Trump calls the bill cutting over 800 billion to medicare "one big, beautiful bill"

And to think there are still some people on this board who think that guy never lies.

Sure they Republicans have some lame talking points to explain the rationale behind it, but as usual, it is 90% inaccurate and filled with gross exaggerations. The poorest people, and most of them working while poor, are about to get screwed.

Think it will hold true. Deserving individuals will not see any negative impact on coverage. But I get the politics of the scare tactics.

I mean 81 million people rely on Medicare for healthcare, but I’m sure they’ll see no impact.

It seems like the savings that DOGE had on it's website last week are gone-at least five large ones. Seems like the numbers just weren't correct. But it sure looked like some great savings, so just post it even if it's not correct. There have been some savings, but we could trust them more if they confirmed what they posted. Read about it.

I explained why. But here goes again. Proposed “cuts” are about $80 billion a year. We are now aware The advantage program alone has at least $100 billion/year in fraud (cnbc report says maybe MUCH higher). If you watched republicans discussing the bill, you heard them discuss this also.

They have been getting screwed worse than ever over the past four years. Jesus Christ man. I have people I see daily that are now eating one meal a damn day because it was all they could afford. One of them actually retired four years ago, now this is her situation. This never ceases to amaze me. It is why Biden got voted out. The Dems left their base behind. And the pubs picked up the pieces for the working class. This is just a plain damn fact. The rich got richer and the poor get poorer.

Also, any time numbers are evaluated by the left, originally it sounds just like will and the others have explained here. Then a month from now they never come back to admit the numbers were wrong.

And I am sorry, because this issue ticks me off more than any other, they are always, and I mean always freaking wrong about their numbers. The next time lefty positive numbers turn out to be exactly as they have stated will be the first time. Ever. So excuse all of us on the right if we are gunshy to believe one word of this likely collasal pile of bullshit.

Just go look at Biden’s last job report. He claimed it was one of the best ever. Right before the election. Thankfully someone was paying attention. It turned out to be one of the worst job reports in our history. This happened 100’s of times over the last four years. They could tell me they have four fingers and a thumb on one hand and I would expect it to be wrong at this point. When the numbers are clarified. I guarantee you this will be proven incorrect. It always. And I mean always is when it comes to the left. They can’t help themselves.

The advantage plans are plain old fashioned frauds. Advise your parents to never select them.

Let me explain basic economics to you. The US tax rate is punitive, not revenue optimized. Congressional models don’t use dynamic scoring which is a completely flawed way to anticipate the impact of tax cuts. Lower taxes will result in an increase in revenue. It always does. Deficits are a result of excessive spending, not tax cuts.

Well, you had help from Screamin' Hakeem, Brother Bernie and the MSM collective, so no, we don't think you made it up.

Tax Cuts for Millionaires, Billionaires and Trillionaires, oh my!
You want a tax increase? This bill extends the 2017 "tax cuts for millionaires," but funny thing. You see, we have actual numbers from all the years since they went into effect.

In reality, all taxpayers gained. The bottom 20% of earners saw their net federal tax rate fall to the lowest level in 40 years.

The increased standard deduction disproportionately benefits lower income taxpayers.

Working families making less than $30K had their taxes cut by 13.5% - the most of any income level.

The top 1% paid more in federal income tax than ever before, despite the rate reduction.

That same top 1% pays over 45% of all federal tax revenue. The top 10% now pay over 75% of all federal income tax. Tax the rich!

Conversely, the bottom half of earners paid less income tax than ever before, less than 2.3% of tax revenue.

They're slashing, gutting, and eviscerating Medicaid!
Not mentioned anywhere in the budget resolution. Not once.

What it does do is cut broad funding, which includes many other programs, by a total of $880 billion over 10 years - not all at once, and no requirement to cut Medicaid specifically. The real message to the states is to clean up their programs, their administrative load, and eligibility.

You want to provide coverage for illegals (including Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, housing assistance and other programs)? Do it on your own nickel. The motivation is to get your illegals on the next bus, plane, train or automobile for home. ICE and CBP are here to help.

Fraud and abuse in entitlement programs accounts for more than a trillion dollars per decade. Aiding and abetting criminal aliens is a felony.

But wait, there's more!
The plan also removes tax on overtime pay. Social Security benefits are nontaxable under the budget bill requirements. For waitstaff, bartenders, baristas, busboys and others, tips are tax free. BTW, billionaires, millionaires and other top tier taxpayers don't get tips, rely on Social Security or get overtime pay. That's mostly for middle class and the lower 50% of earners.

The bill also lowers tax on goods manufactured in the US. That means more US manufacturing jobs, and a broader tax base as offshore manufacturing is moved back home for the tax break and to avoid potential import tariffs.

Ok. Help me understand how $4.5t in tax cuts that even the GOP acknowledge greatly favor the very wealthy and $2t in spending cuts that even the GOP acknowdge will have to largely come from entitlements like Medicaid is going to help the middle and lower classes in this country.

And don’t bother arguing supply side economics. The last forty five years have proven that there is no trickle down, simply more concentration of wealth at the top.

It's not a tax cut. What do you not understand. It's not the governments money to cut. It's ours. Quit looking at taxes as if it's the governments right to take our money.

AND....

Do you think millionaires are sitting around saying "I hope I keep another 50-100k this year." Not the millionaires you are referring to. My direct boss is one of those millionaires. Does he make a few extra bucks? yes. However, I've watched him with almost every dollar of EPITDA...roll it back in - grow the company. The people you are referring to are reinvesting and more money, ultimately, going to more people.

Folks who complain about millionaire tax cuts are bums or part of the DC cult who have been stealing trillions for years.

DOGE keeps posting stuff on Twitter to get clicks and generate excitement. They’ve had to correct it at least four times to bring the number down to a more accurate time because they keep getting fact checked by Wall Street Journal reporters.

To date, DOGE has not identified any fraud at all, and has only publicized programs whose information was already public.

I told everyone from the beginning, Elon‘s claim that he was going to cut $2 trillion in spending was ridiculous.

And his goal from the beginning was to use any savings to pay down the debt. That is clearly not going to be happening since the budget that was approved by the house has a quarter trillion dollar shortfall every year.

As I’ve stated time and time again, anyone who thinks that a politician is looking out for them is a fool. They look out for themselves only. Neither party is serious about reducing the deficit or the debt. Neither.

I think you are burying the lead here. If a Trump White House put out the most error-filled jobs report in a decade and a half, the media would be all over it, and it would be the story of his presidency. However, part of this is because he lies all the time anyway.

When you state that it went from being the best jobs report ever to be in the worst jobs report in our history, that is not true. It still showed 2.1M jobs created. Solid.

We certainly have different definitions of fraud. The egregious misuse of our tax dollars is ALL fraud. Just yesterday they reported on senator Whitehorse’s wife receiving $2.7 million through Ocean Conservancy . Funnellling $2 billlion to Stacey Abram’s. Shuffling $20 billion to hide in a bank as Biden is leaving office. It’s all fraud.

BTW, if they allow the pending tax increase to occur, 62% of Americans will see a tax increase. The average tax increase will be $2,900. While they’re at it, Maybe they can address the tax refunds so many get without paying a penny of taxes.

According to Biden at the pulpit. He described it as the best ever for some reason. I don’t know if it was the worst ever either. But that is how trump described it. It was the lowest of the four years. And since Carter if I remember correctly. There are twenty or so articles over the four years that show manipulated job data. What is for sure is it was manipulated and used to try to sway opinion right before Election Day. Par for the course.

The moral of the story is everyone on the left is quick to jump on anything they can wrap around trump’s neck. I get it. So they can claim they are right. History shows that any numbers they latch onto like this are always explainable. And there is a reason for it. Every single time it is never as good as it seems when it comes to the left or as bad as it seems depending on which way they want any numbers to look.

Let’s see how it ends up. Whatever it ends up being, we will be in a better spot than where we were when it started. At least they want to try to get the numbers right. Let see if you come back to admit you are wrong when all is said and done. I am sure you won’t. Just the green new grift exposure is worth every penny.

HA!....that's rich. You're so politically biased you wouldn't know the truth if it hit you upside the head.

Pretty sure that all 77 million plus that voted for Trump are not "stupid". But in your mind, I guess they could be - especially if they disagree with you.

Changes need to be made, why don't you at least wait until it all comes together before you make such assumptions/statements. The sky ain't fell yet.

On the other hand, you can always continue your condescending ways, it can be cute and entertaining on slow days.
