Having driven an Army Jeep during my days in the US Army these critters you have posted are not Jeeps at all. The gear shift and the lack of shocks and steering was a challenge. Getting an Army Driver's License in non war times was easy BUT getting a Duce and half license was a test of ones skills.. ah those days of active duty.. 65

I also drove a Duce in the SeaBees and got trusted to drive the lieutenant's jeep later in my service career.......All the US military jeeps were either one of three brands, Willys, Ford, or Bantam......The one(s) you drove in the Army were most likely Willys which set the standard for all jeeps......The Bantam jeeps were only made one year while the Willys and Ford jeeps were made from the early 1940s to the mid 1940s, then discontinued........Kaiser bought out Willys and produced jeeps from the early '50s to the mid '60s.....Then Chysler bought out Kaiser and there you have the their jeeps of today....But make no bones about it, the Willys military jeeps were the foundation for all other jeeps to duplicate and manufacture (Toyotos, Mitsubishi, Suzucki, etc).......Ford jeeps were used in the Vietnam conflict, while the Hum V is used today........

Thank you and always recall the gear shift would sometimes to do what it wanted to do or grind.. 65
