State Dept to purchase 400M for armored Cybertrucks

The ability to eliminate government agencies that are investigating his companies. Largest government contractor to easily win more contracts. TRILLIONS in tax savings. Great investment to literally purchase the Presidency of the US. I LOVE Elon the engineer and have followed TSLA for years and own a good deal of stock. I'm all for finding and eliminating fraud and waste, but cutting agencies and absolutely lying to the public about what he's finding is really bad. This will come back to haunt all of us. Check on our farmers, elderly, and poorer families as they will get decimated.
What agency...that "investigates his companies"....has HE cut? Actually, what has he actually cut vs. identify potential fraud? He's admitted that their 'first looks' may be incorrect. He has zero executive power. He simply identifies potential fraud/waste/abuse. All cuts are executed by the appropriate agency IF found to be legit.

"Lying" is clearly the new buzzword, when he's said multiple times that initial analysis may be incorrect and/or need further details.

The S&P 500, the gold-standard market index of 500 US stocks, has posted a compound annual growth rate of 14.1% from Biden’s November 2020 election through Thursday’s closing bell (11/1/2024), according to veteran market strategist Sam Stovall of CFRA Research. The S&P 500 enjoyed a compound annual growth rate of 12.1% from Trump’s surprise election in November 2016 through Biden’s 2020 victory, according to CFRA. That’s the third best performance in modern history, behind only Clinton and Biden.

Now the dufus in charge is starting global trade wars to try and get the global trade genie back in the bottle. I hate to break it to you but we are in a global economy. That genie isn't going back in. We import lots of raw materials that we do not have -- See Africa. We are not the only player in town. China is a huge player on the global market. The more we follow an isolationist policy, the fewer trade partners we'll have. They will turn to China, the Middle East (Saudia Arabia), and Europe. We are not the big badass global dominating economy that once were. Making enemies of everyone except for oligarch driven countries like Russia is not going to lead to a better america. It is going to lead to the rich getting richer and the rest of us fighting over scraps. You want to be Mexico? Russia? Keep this up and that's where we will end up.

Are you an AI bot? Almost the entirety of your post was political spin doctor mixed w/ adolescent name calling (and yes, I've called out that stupidity from both 'sides').

Not one response to what I posted. No doubt we are in a global economy. Thanks for the lesson I didn’t need. If you think we are turning into Mexico when Most depend on us way more than we depend on them, I got nothing for you. We keep going the way we were we definitely going to end up like Russia. Or worse. The haves and have nots. Nothing in between. You had a president who was compromised. Not only mentally, but by corruption. You had the media doing his bidding and covering up for him. That is way more dangerous than anything you have described. And it isn’t even close. You have a one sided view of this. I get it. At some point this has to change. We have to stop what we are currently doing. Take some bad times. Fix it so we can move on. You can’t just keep printing money. It isn’t sustainable. You can argue Trump doesn’t actually want to fix anything. But at least so far he is willing to take the hit. It looks that way. If it goes sideways, I will eat crow. But believing things were great under the past regime is borderline insanity.

We're at the point where we get fed 'scare tactics' about some fascist/corrupt future Trump actions that have never happened and we have no evidence will ever happen.

I get people not liking Trump. But, at some point they need to either admit their worst-fears are driven by hysterical media coverage and/or fear mongering that has already proven to be based on nothing.

He's already shown how he governs. First term and the clear priorities of the first few weeks of his second. NONE of the claims of fascism or other ridiculous claims have ever had a single bit of actual evidence. It's all scare tactics. All of it.

Speak for yourself. Our company has seen more growth the past four years than the four years prior. Now that trump is back and wanting to start trade wars, we are having to buy things now out of fear that they won't be available or too expensive. Trump is an idiot. Four bankruptcies? Yeah, that's who we want running this country.
You’re so angry. I’m talking about a single project. Coro of Engineers even told me to wait a few months, Trump will address regulations. There is no debate that Biden regulations were overly burdensome. I can speak for many on that. Glad your business has been good. Mine too. Doesn’t mean it can’t be better.

BTW The state dept had already cancelled this order that was placed under Biden. Feel better ?

I am not a Trump fan all the time either. You are 100 percent right. The posting about him looks agenda driven. They never say one positive thing about him. But not being able to see what the past president was, and currently what he isn’t. Well that is just ridiculous. In three weeks he has answered more questions than Biden did in his last two years. There is way more transparency. Plus he doesn’t disappear for days at a time

Well let’s give the worst US President in modern day times an ATTA BOY! LMAO..Of course you don’t mention that it was his terrible energy policies that caused the economic issues in the first place. They were the root cause of the terrible economic conditions the entire world was in….the policies that caused record inflation and got your party’s sorry ass fired.
Under Biden's watch inflation increased 5.2% ( almost 4 times Trump and Obama)per year and the National Debt increased over $7 trillion ( in line with Trump and Obama)--GDP pretty meaningless when inflation consumed it all

Listen to yourself. When the liar tells you he may be wrong and you still buy everything hook line and sinker it's a problem. Trump is dumb as a box of rocks - this is Elon's agenda. He has bought and paid for the presidency. We all want to cut waste and fraud, are you good with the gigantic tax cut coming for the wealthy? You good with them gutting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security? They're next.

I loathe the "TDS" cliche...but, there are some instances where it seems to be the only explanation (this thread being a prime exhibit).

The only other coherent explanation is either rampant tribalism or fear of losing a gravy train.

Trump has and will make stupid decisions...but, clearly not at the Hitler-level hysteria we've seen him accused of and many (including smart posters here) refuse to admit.

Good grief, man. What a load of complete horseshit, completely devoid of reality.

Bravo, I guess.

Trumps inflation was tied directly to Covid. Biden unnecessarily used Covid to dump huge sums of money into the economy. Appears to me this also provided cover for Biden and Dems to do some sketchy things with our money.

No doubt and they thought the country had gotten so woke that anything was fair game

If the Rep. party doesn't try to or accomplish cutting Medicare/Medicaid/SS I will admit that I went to far. Maybe all of this chaos freaks me out as I own my own business and I'm afraid of the consequences. If the economy booms I will be thankful and happy that I was wrong. Is there a point where you would admit you're wrong?

Cutting the basics of those programs are one thing, cutting the waste, fraud, and abuse of those programs is an entirely different matter. Not sure on SS since Congress has gutted it for years ( both parties) but there have been estimates of at least 30% waste on Medicare and Medicaid for a long time( maybe DOGE may just identify what that actually is).

Is this true? Do you have a link. Serious question- ignore the cultists. They have no idea this populist demagogue thing they are in love with is identical in every meaningful way to the Marxism they claim to deplore. But that’s a topic for a more informed setting. I AM interested in the sourcing on the original post.

There has already been a provided link debunking the claim. Your silly name calling should be directed closer to home.

Research is pretty simple even for the uninformed:
CLAIM: MSNBC television host Rachel Maddow on Wednesday accused President Donald Trump and Elon Musk of “corrupt” self-dealing to purchase worth of $400 million of armored Tesla vehicles through a State Department contract.

VERDICT: False. The Biden administration orchestrated the armored EV contract, the State Department has put the contract on hold, and there was only one bidder on the contract during the Biden administration — Elon Musk’s Tesla.

Electric Armored vehicles

Sorry, I missed that, thank you. I see it now. Yep, looks like a big nothing burger. Both sides are pretty good at seeing what they want to see.

Well, the accusations of cutting what you're claiming Trump will do have already shown to be Democratic scare tactics. It is literally "fake news", that is a repetitive accusation against every Republican for a generation. Yet, it keeps being shown to be false. Draw your own conclusion.

So, I guess that means you should at least review your data sources.

If Trump does a 180 from his first few weeks and DOESN'T do the things he canpaigned on, I'll gladly criticize him. Thus far, he's done exactly what he was elected to do. We'll see how it plays out.

And sometimes just making it up as they go along. (Both sides)One difference here. Elon gave a stat that was completely incorrect. The condom debacle. He admitted this was not right and set the record straight. Still waiting to see if Rachel Madcow does the same. I won’t hold my breath.

That is true. I still hope, probably wishfully so, that the extremes of both political parties disappear and we can finally get back on track of trying to do what is best for the nation and the American people.

How about a bit of self-reflection? It was another fake story generated by liberal media, attempting to undermine legitimate attempts to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse.

But sure...they're the cultists not living in more informed settings.

What a load of horse manure.

I was referring to the ridiculous conversation that was entirely off-topic- reread the thread

Democratic Party approval at the start of the week was 31%, but it evidently has surged lower with the brilliant Reparations bill introduced Tuesday.
Their argument will be that the Trillion in savings DOGE finds can and should be given to them in Reparations settlements. Just wait....nothing like a little Dutch door action....

I'm sure you have a list of "worst POTUS ever" policies, right? Actual, non-politically charged talking points. I am intrigued, especially as someone that has lots of issues with Trump. Please share.

...or were you just emotionally pulling that comment out of your nether regions?

I hope you have more than snark to back up your assertion. I'm am legitimately looking forward to your contribution.

Thank you.

Sure thing Lava. Trump's policy of lying about 2020 election fraud, then calling his violent insurrectionists to the Capitol on Jan 6th, 2021--that's #1 on my list. #2 is Trump's policy of pardoning those same insurrectionists, soon as he got the chance. I guess I'll mention his hiring of Elon Musk to do a job his own minions in Congress should've been doing for lo, these past four years, instead of trying to manufacture ways to impeach Joe Biden, that'll be #3 on my list. So #4 is Trump's naming the absolute STUPIDEST f*ucks he could find to head his Cabinet, just as long as they'd kiss his fat azz. #5 is renaming the Gulf of Mexico, wanting to purchase Greenland, wanting to annex Canada, letting Elon and his little kid play Romper Room in the Oval Office--I'll lump all those together under the heading "Shredding The Dignity Of The Office Of The President Of The united States."

I just now made that list up, because you asked.

Really moves the needle for a company worth a trillion dollars.

By comparison, Tesla’s market cap went down by $50 Billion when Trump announced China tariffs. But by all means please continue explaining how Musk could benefit financiallly from the Trump agenda given MAGA’s love for EV mandates, oil restrictions, and subsidizing foreign countries that sell American made EVs.
You just said you're OK with your government giving Elon Musk's company $400M, just because Elon's company doesn't really need the money.

Elon Musk, who's the satellite President of the United States.

Listen to yourself.

Also pretty meaningless when government spending is through the roof. Kinda like the jobs report when all the growth comes from government and part time jobs.

Real growth has been stagnant once you factor in inflation. Our country had gotten used to stagnant growth in the Bush and Obama years but the economy was humming under Trump until COVID hit. Biden did benefit from post COVID growth early in his term, but he also allowed inflation to spin out of control and he turned the government agenda into a freakshow. If the economy had been so great during Biden’s tenure, the dems would have won the election. People vote with their wallets, everything else is a side show.

How about all you guys just admit that you are fine with corruption cronyism and an oligarchy of billionaires running the country? Would make it so much easier than tying yourself in knots trying to defend the obvious. MAGA likes to talk a lot about the constitution, parading around with constitution T-shirts, and stickers on their giant truck. But now that the constitution is being clearly ignored, just own it and admit you are cool with a strong man regime.
“Oligarchy of billionaires”? Who ran the country under Biden? None of us know for sure but it sure as hell wasn’t Biden. Everything Trump has done has been completely transparent. All leaders have subordinates that they lead. Why do you think the president has a cabinet? If you think anyone is in charge other than Trump, you haven’t been paying attention.
