This new bill introduced in the Georgia legislature would exempt NIL compensation received by college athletes from state income tax.

This puts us even with Texas and Florida who have no state income tax. I like it.
You're not on equal footing until Georgia eliminates income tax. Doing it only for college athletes does not put GA on equal footing with those states, unless football is the only thing that matters to voters.

I was talking about competing for recruits. -Comparing NIL Deals apples to apples. Clearly UF. FSU, UT, and TAMU are using this as a reason to to leave Georgia or it would not have been proposed and passed.

I don't think this is true. I've traveled for work for most of my career, and I've always had to file state returns for the states I was working in at the time. One year I had to file seven state and three local income tax returns.
That is correct. You also filed in your state of residence. They could put something in this Bill to exempt earnings in GA so they aren’t subject to NJ, NY, CA, AL, SC , NC state income tax. I am curious if a tax law which specifically excludes college athletes from paying state tax on their earnings is Constitutional in GA. Normally speaking it is discriminatory to exempt one group of earners from legislation which affects all others. We shall see.

Does it give us an advantage over Ala, Aub, UNC, ClemPson, SCU, NJ, PennSt, TheOhio, Mich, SC since those states have a state income tax?

If the state of Georgia can also grant sleazy/opportunisit NIL agents tax free status and/or tax credits for steering football players to Georgia,...then it's on like donkey Kong and Georgia will be a benefactor

At least until Missouri or Alabama raise the stakes and offer HS blue chippers a trust fund for a commitment,...and walk-ons get a Jon boat and one paddle,...and a styrofoam cooler

I would think so, but I think some states will pass similar legislation.

It will be challenged as to Constitutional legality of exempting a specific group from state income tax. Will be interesting to see where it goes.

There's only one group that can put an end to this madness, and that's us....the fans. I watched less college football this year than I've ever watched. Next year, I'll be giving up my season tickets and will just catch an occasional home game.

I feel so fortunate to have been able to witness two periods of UGA glory days.
