I hope we don't get Smart . Mullen had the best QB he ever coached and couldn't beat ole miss or bama . So he's not the answer
Mullen was at MSU, which was a dumpster fire when he took it over. He did a damn good job at MSU, and achieved more with less. Richt achieved less with more.
The same thing Richt did , Mullen does ten times worse , clock management, Florida will own us and auburn .

Go look at his records against the West, it's terrible. The only reason he's not on the hot seat is he got lucky with DP, but still lost and lost big with him. He'll be fired in 2-3 years tops. Mullen would be a massive step backwards for our program.
YAY! No intention to be smart, but that guy hasn't proven anything to me. Hid behind Saban, and now taking over UGA? I'm convinced he can recruit, but can he coach and lead? And run a clean, organized program? Big job for someone without experience. Richt was the exception, not the rule. Most coordinators move to smaller schools to gain experience, then take it to the next level. We'll see. Hope we don't go backwards.
Yeah, he's just a terrible coach, absolutely awful. Alabama obviously paid him 1.6 million dollars a year to stand around and look pretty. He's a finalist for the Broyles Award because he hides behind Saban. Do you guys ever listen to yourself. The guy hasn't even been hired yet and you're tearing him down. Unbelievable.

I didn't say I wanted Mullen. I said he did a good job at MSU, and he did considering the laughable state it was in and the incredible difficulty of recruiting players to that school. How conveniently people forget how absolutely awful MSU. At least they're respectable now. He also coached in a far tougher division. We couldn't win the East the past three seasons despite having the most talent and in spite of the fact that the SEC East has been trash for half a decade.

All I've said is he's "unproven" to step right into this gig. Not saying he can't. According to Bleacher Report, he is our only target. We fired a proven coach to take a chance on an assistant. Wow! I don't have a problem replacing Richt. However, Mcgarity should have higher targets than Kirby Smart. I don't get the love fest. Yet
Proven? Absolutely! You can't deny his accomplishments. No way to compare Smart to Richt. Again, if you're going to fire CMR, you better be willing to open up the checkbook, and buy a more successful coach.
I'm with you on that one. Pay them whatever is necessary to get it done. No unproven coaches...
There is always a bit of a pig in a poke risk when a coach moves from assistant to HC. In this case it's clearly Saban's most trusted assistant and he has tutored some excellent ones.
I have no doubt Kirby has the brains and knowledge, whether he has the qualities needed for leadership is my only question. There is nothing that quite prepares a person for being the head guy and no other test that can prove he has IT other than live fire.
Even then You don't know with certainty how a coach will adapt from one situation to the next.
I was sure Chris Petersen would do for Washington what He did for Boise St, but for whatever reasons, it hasn't worked out that way.
Jimbo Fisher has worked out ok, as have many other top assistants who moved right into top HC positions.
Heck look at how fast Gus Malzone has gone from genius to under .500.
I'm fine with either Kirby or Herman, and it looks like it's Kirby.

The fact Saban values him so highly counts for something. The vile little prince has a hell of a track record in evaluating and training young future HCs.

No one knows who the new coach will be. Particularly some bumpkin from a backwater like Clemson who my old bookie used to call "Grissom", lol! BTW, "Grissom" turned their program over to a real position coach when they last hired. A guy better known as DABO rather than "Coach".....with not bad results. A guy who will drop "Grissom" like yesterday's drawers if you know who calls.
If what I said offended you , you don't get it ... We hired Dabo because we were not a top 5 job , he has however done a great job . In life for every Dabo there is a Goff , Muschamp , Zook ,Dubose ,Chizik,Scott, West, Orgeron,Torbush , Bunting.

I've binged on Kirby tv, well Youtube video. I started with interviews from early in his career and watched through his most resent.
I think he's ready and I think he'll win big for Us.
He has a mind for detail like Saban, he isn't the salesman Lil Nicky is, but who is ?
I want Pruitt to be his DC, but he'll put together a perennially top defense regardless of who his DC is.
I hope he comes and brings Tyson Helton with him.
The future is very bright for UGA football.

Yea hiring a DC as a head coach has really went well in the past, but yal are going to be different .The University of Georgia could have hired a quality proven coach , kept the top QB in the country , but turned their program over to a guy that is a puppet on a string . This is one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen in sports .

Well I would love to hear who you think would fit the bill. My understanding is that Mcgarrity checks with this forum before he makes decisions. It was us haters that got Richt fired after all.
Dooley and Richt have won around 350 games over 40 years for UGA. Both were assistants before being hired as HCs. There have been hundreds of ''successful'' HCs hired by programs who were/are far less successful.
Chris Petersen was ultra successful at Boise St, yet it hasn't transferred to Washington so far.
There have been maybe 3 near can't miss hires in the past 10 years..
Saban at Bama
Meyer at OSU
Harbaugh at Michigan, and it's still premature to call it an absolute success.
So who is out there right now who would be a no-brainer ? Jimbo perhaps, but culturally he might be problematic, It's doubtful he'll leave FSU anyway.
I gave reasons why I think this is dumpster fire. 1.You are a top 5 program that established coaches would want to come to .
Maybe a Patterson , Briles, Dantonio,Mora ,Gundy,or even a Rich Rod or a Kelly, Or Peterson ...All would be less of a gamble than a coach that is instructed on a chalk board every week the plays by his superior..
2. You have just threw a grenade in the room of all your recruits .. A room that the best QB in the country was sitting , along with more 4 stars than every Indian motel in the world.You are now going to allow teams to the north and south and east come in a raid your recruits like a thief in the night . I wouldn't have done nothing until I had that class signed and Eason in house .
3.You split your fan base for no sure fire ansr.No matter who you get there will be distrust between a large majority of your fans and the administration ( Holy crap , I don't blame em).
Maybe just maybe it would have been smart to let the best back in the country get well, let the gunslinger( if you think true fresh can't do it Check DW) be with him to take the pressure off ,let you D to continue to improve led by a DC (one of the best in the country)10 times better than the head coach you are going after,and allow your coach that is well respected and has inroads with ever hs coach in the south continue to do his thing .
If you think what I said is irrational , you are part of the biggest clownfest to hit the SEC since the Ron Zook experiment .The UGA administration had options but chose to act like a parent making a last ditch effort on Christmas Eve for the perfect toy..The deal was done with Smart after the Tenn game,even the most pedestrian college football fan knows that . When UGA won out it got the waters muddy and here you are.. I say all this to go back to my point from the beginning , your Georgia , one of the top storied programs in the south and in the country , what in the double hell are you doing ...

I would put out feelers to Dantonio and Patterson, forget the others on that list though. I'd much rather take a chance on possible excellence with Kirby or Herman than coaches with proven flaws and limitations.
That's ok if true. It's not like our leaders woke up Sunday with a blank paper then scribbled Kirby on it. There has been research and consideration to alternatives for a long time.
Ya know, I'd like to think that was so. Then I look at McGarity's track record of hires since he's been at UGA and get depressed.
Landing Pruitt was a pleasant and shocking surprise, so it's not totally out of the question We throw a fat wad of money at an established HC, but in all likelihood it's Kirby. I don't think there's a serious UGA fan who hasn't considered this for the past 5 years or more. For that reason it's almost certainly the case with Our leaders as well. Kirby is also extremely well known and respected by HS coaches and administrators in the state and region. Culturally and in recruiting he's as close to a plug and play as We could find.
You dump Richt for an unproven HC? This could turn out to be a big mistake. Kirby is a very good DC (like Muschamp) but an unknown as a HC. Very risky imo.

Between 2010-2013 he went 13-3 against Ga , Tenn, Florida and Clemson.I hate to admit that but it's true. What are you talking about?
