What does everyone think about Trump's latest nomination?

If he can fix the food additive issue here in the US, it's a huge win. I think he's completely wrong about a lot of his vaccine stuff. Fortunately, I think he's in much better position to affect the food issue & not have much impact w/ the vaccines.
The USA allows food additives that are not allowed in other countries. The FDA has become toothless in fighting the big Ag and big pharma lobbyist.
Honestly, I’m a no vax person, didn’t get the Covid shot and don’t get the flu shot. I know it’s different for everyone but we should be able to make that decision as individuals.

Think it's time we have someone that actually challenges the companies they regulate instead of being advocates for those industries. Imo, Kennedy feels about the same as me when it comes to vaccines. When the data suggests the benefit to an individual and or groups of individuals outweighs the risk, vaccines are a warranted. When the data suggests there is a possibility of severe side effects and little to no benefit, they shouldn't be promoted.

For example, I'm a 62 yr old guy with HBP. I took the shot because the data said I was at a higher risk wotj covid even though my immune system is robust than I was from the vaccine. My teen aged granddaughter on the other had is a competitive gymnast so she's in great physical shape and covid poses virtually no threat to her at all. I think jabbing her would be borderline criminal.

Please remind me, who is the current Secretary of HHS and what is his background? Where exactly does Becerra get his medical info?
I have no idea, because Becerra is a career politician who is also completely unqualified.

Folks - pointing out completely unqualified Democrats does not make RFK Jr any more qualified. Neither of these clowns have any idea what they’re doing. That’s pathetic for our country.

Is this where we are? A race to the bottom? Just put a conservative physician or public health person in there and move on. RFK Jr.? This guys think food dyes are why Americans are fat. Lol.

This doctor spoke out against the covid vax. Lost her hospital privileges and had a SWAT team kick in her front door at 6am.
1) vaccinating kids against a respiratory disease that predominantly affects the old and the fat is/ was unwise.
2) 10 and 27 out of 1,000,000 is astronomically low adverse event rate
3) the observed inflammation was transient in nature and, since this was from two years ago, I would assume it’s resolved. Because that is what happened to American children.

I understand some of the reactions you are having to these picks. I guess. But most of the folks he has picked so far were already known to be heading to his cabinet if he won. This was predicted for tulsi, rfk, Vivek, Elon, Rubio etc six months ago. It was even advertised to the pubs and Dems prior to the election. You seem to be flabbergasted. If you voted for Trump, this was happening. Gaetz is obviously a political move. That leaves noem as the only major surprise to me. But she has been successful in every step of her career so far. Willing to see what she can do. I promise there will be more unqualified people for positions in the future. I am not sure how his picks so far are incredibly shocking.

Thats fair but, Gaetz was not even being considered for AG a week ago. RFK, since he is a vaccine denier, was thought to be too toxic for an official position, and most thought he would hang around the white house in some unofficial capacity.

Putting Gaetz in charge of the FBI is insane. It makes the deranged Democrats look correct.

And no one was predicting the Fox News host to lead the DoD. The DoD is the largest employer on Earth. Think about that.

So these really are out of left field.

Anyway. They’re here now, so we’ll see how they do. But Trump has put highly risky picks in every single cabinet postion. He would need a real parlee in order for them all to come up good.

I am not a Trump fan, and am proud to not have voted for him in 2016, but this is too wacky for me.

Both parties are doing a bunch of wacky stuff.

He’s right about diet and chronic disease. It’s a windfall for big pharma.

Why does the country with the best medicine have the least healthy people?
How Big Pharma Keeps You Sick
In part- because we are an incredibly eclectic and diverse population. Many Americans - unlike, more healthy citizens of countries like Japan, arrived here 20 years or 2 years ago. Learning how to navigate diet when you have so much- is new for many of these new Americans. More affluent Americans have figured this out because they have had generations to do so. Japan is like a rich old folks home. No immigration- no economic growth- no dynamism. But they do have low crime and a healthy diet. Would I want to be a young person there? Uh…no! By the way, big Pharma , is an American jewel. Yes, American diets need to be better.

Shocking were the picks that ‘Biden’ made. Only DEI boxes being checked and they had no credibility. Mayor Pete? Really?

Only those with TDS (or the swamp afraid of their jobs) can be outraged at the current cabinet selections.

IMO this is way too simplistic. You have to ignore a lot of factors to say diversity is the cause.

Why was American not this fat prior to the 2000's? Are you saying immigration was the only cause that made 75% of the population overweight/obese?
Why does the FDA say it is acceptable for a 1 year old to receive 10% of their daily calories from sugar?
What other countries subsidize sugar?
What other countries put cheap corn sugar in all their processed food?

The food pyramid was changed when they had the war on "fats" in the diet in the 1990's. Fats were cut and replace with carbohydrates (sugar). Might there be a connection? Could it be recommending 6-11 servings of bread/cereal/pasta vs 5-9 fruits/vegetables had an impact?

Unless there is data that shows a vax actually retards spread to an appreciable degree, vaxing anyone not at risk is/was unwise, esp when long term side effects can't be determined or even predicted. (Think about the young ESPN sideline reporter that was forced out because she didn't want to endanger her ability to reproduce.)

Yes, 20 or so out of 1 mil is a low risk rate but it's higher than 0 out of 1 mil and heart issues aren't the only issues reported with this Vax. What I expect from my government when it comes to vaccines and chemicals in my food is truth and transparency. We shouldn't be 3 plus yrs into a vaccine regiment without a chart showing risk/efficacy for every age and risk group. The fact we're trying to jab healthy 1 yr olds makes picking RFK Jr look like a stroke of genius.

Assume all you want but we've been lied to from the start about the covid jab. From 100% safe and 100% effective to take the jab to stop the spread, we were gaslighted by people that had a financial stake in the use of the vax. I don't care if the person compiling the data is a doctor, lawyer or plumber, I just want accurate info in order to make the right decisions for me and my family and as of today, I trust RFK Jr a lot more than I would trust Fauci.

No one had ever seen a 300lb person before William Perry in the 1985 Super Bowl. Now, every high school has half a dozen.

You mean the "Dr" who has never seen a patient? He probably is also unware that Fauci was running the Aids response in the 1980's and was killing people with AZT similar to the treatment during the scamdemic with Remdesivir. History can rhyme, if not repeat.

Dude is a lawyer who gets his medical info. from YouTube videos.
Maybe. We will find out.

All I know is I have had multiple health problems since getting the Covid vaccine. I was forced to get it to keep my job and I have honestly thought about suing my company.

I have never had a flu shot. I have not had the flu since I was 10.

I think the admission that you aren’t a trump fan makes more sense. You held your nose I guess and voted for him this time or didn’t vote. So you may not have followed the fact that most of these picks were already in the works. And if you listen to rfk, he doesn’t hate vaccines. He said Americans should be given a choice. That is controversial, but hardly a hard stance against all vaccines.

Gaetz I get you being worried about. I think this was political. He ends up a senator or the ag. I am with you on his choice, but Trump will not make the mistakes he made in 2016. He is not going to pick people who were highly recommended by the rnc. He is going to pick people who believe in his agendas. As any president should and would. Most have all been a success in their current posts, and certainly in no way will be more incompetent than the previous regime.

If you were dissecting all of biden’s picks for cabinet too, I would get it. This just seems like more of an indictment against trump. He is not everyone’s cup of tea. However that has changed. And more than ever it turns out he is.

Yes, on the surface Hegseth was surprising, but not really. He is the complete opposite of what he worked with last term. Which I think is a good thing. And what most were suggesting he may do to get away from the establishment military leaders. From that standpoint it made a ton of sense. We will see if it works.

The problem w RFKJR isn't the covid shot or the flu shot. It is that he is straight up anti vax. Including stuff like polio. Skepticism over new drugs and new vax's and such is fine... Questioning something like the polio shot that no doubt 10000000% is as effective as anything in this world has ever been, is a huge problem

Totally fair assessment.

I was not planning on voting this year since I do not like either candidate. But after that poor girl got murdered by the illegal alien in Athens, Georgia, that just hit too close to home to not vote at all. I knew right then I had to vote for Trump.

Trump’s a criminal and an adulterer, and generally a low character individual and I think the presidency should be better. That being said, the Democrats have decided to go insanely far left that normal people in the middle, like 80% of Americans, have nowhere left to go.

Anyway, like I said, the pics are in now, and I wish everyone the best of luck. God bless America.

The USA is a very diverse country. If I put 40M blacks in Japan, their “overall health” would decline.

If I go out 50M Mexicans in Canada, their “overall health” would decline.

Doing comparisons to our country against Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Japan, South Korea, etc. is stupid. What do all of those countries have in common? Lol

If vaccinations only ever affected the person who chose to get them or not, then I think everyone would support your idea. However, vaccinations, do not only affect you. Which is why they are required as a society for children to enter schools.

You have been a good poster for a long time. You are always level headed. I may not agree with you, but there is no agenda with your posts. This is what we should all be about. Civil discussion and see what happens. Trump hasn’t been my cup of tea either at times. I really like what he is saying. Those are words. Let’s see if he can do it again. He will be unleashed for two years without a safety net. At the least, we should see the results. We know how bad the results were under the far left.

Does matter at all that this Twitter post is just wrong? I suspect it won’t.

Why do we need all the conspiracy theories? Can we not just admit that none of us probably eat enough vegetables?

Also, since everyone in this thread seems so concerned about health, I assume everyone here is vegan? Or at a minimum, on the Atkins diet? Because if you’re eating fast food more than once per year, but you’re complaining that it’s “food dyes” that are making us sick, I have to laugh out loud.

But are Republicans going to keep the same energy when it comes to the Director of the Federal trade commission? Or is the Director of the FTC going to let every company merge and squeeze out small players and competition?

If you’re going to be an honest person, you cannot pick and choose your spots to say that regulators need to “get tough“ on the companies they regulate.

Frequently, regulators come from industry, and industry becomes regulators, because these are the people who are experts in that particular industry. I understand that that is confusing to a lot of people, but most people don’t work and highly complex industries. With all due respect, there is nobody on this message board right now, that’s qualified to regulate the world of financial derivatives. In order to have the knowledge to even start that, you would have to have worked in the world of financial derivatives. Same thing with genetic medicine, same thing with vaccines, etc. anybody off the street can go around and regulate your local deli, these industries are incredibly complex.

Dude. This chick lost her medical license for telling patients that ivermectin can help with COVID (note: it does not), was sentenced to prison for refusing to leave the Capitol building on 1/6, and is now being sued by her former business partners because she took all the money they raised for their weird anti-vaccine group and spent it on her lavish lifestyle.

She is a con-artist telling you what you want to hear.

You probably wanna find someone else to get your medical information from than this convict who is on Twitter.

Why was American not this fat prior to the 2000's?

1) We were. But we were certainly much skinnier as a country in the early 80s. These massive waves of illegal immigration from Mexico and Central America did start until the 1980s. Go look up any random photo of America from 1980 and before. Everyone is skinny. Back then, Hispanics were about 10% of our country and blacks were about 5%. Now Hispanics are 25% and blacks are 13%. If you put our blacks and Hispanics in China, China instantly becomes less healthy and we become healthier. That would never happen and I don't want it to, I love our diversity. But American whites are pretty healthy. Not perfect - they eat too much processed junk and not enough vegetables, but pretty healthy. Certainly comparable to western Europe.
2) We are the wealthiest country on earth. Which means we have the ability to eat anything we want at any time and controlling that is not a normal human impulse. Interestingly, China is also getting fatter fast. Meat and sugar is expensive. So, the poorer a country is, the more vegetables they eat. The richer a country is, the more sugar and meat they eat. But we're not unhealthy because of food dyes. lol

Are you saying immigration was the only cause that made 75% of the population overweight/obese?
No, it's the fact that the genetic makeup of our country has been completely changed and also we're much richer now than we were 40 years ago. So everyone is eating too much sugar and meat. Stop eating sugar and meat and see what happens. :)

Why does the FDA say it is acceptable for a 1 year old to receive 10% of their daily calories from sugar?
Because it is? lol growing bodies need huge amounts of calories and carbs to field that growth. Adults are, by definition, full grown so you don't need more than 1,500-2,000 calories per day. And most of that should come from vegetables (whole), complex cards (whole grains), and lean proteins (fish, chicken, etc.). The diet I just described is basically every Asian diet, and virtually no one in America eats this way.

What other countries subsidize sugar?
Any country that is a major sugar producer subsidizes it. Sugar is a hugely valuable commodity and we don't just give production of it away because we shouldn't be eating it. Same with corn, same with beef. The USA can produce enough food to feed our citizens, I don't know if any other country can say that. In times of abundance (which is what the USA has been for the last 150 years or so), it seems weird for the gov't to subsidize these industries. But in times of scarcity, which are always just around the corner, you'll be glad we have these domestic food supplies.

Was it a good idea to NOT subsidize our US manufacturing and send that to China?
Was it a good idea to NOT subsidize our ship making and send that to Europe? We can't even make enough naval boats now and have to depend on foreign countries to make them for us. You shouldn't do that for ships but if you did that with food people could starve.

What other countries put cheap corn sugar in all their processed food? Any country who grows lots of corn (USA, Mexico) will put lots of corn syrup in their food.

I understand how you feel.

Nobody was more upset about the Covid restrictions than me.

That was a very difficult time for everyone in this country and probably around the world.

We have not had a global pandemic in almost a century, and I think we learned a lot about how to handle it better. That being said, the Covid vaccine does not impact a woman’s ability to reproduce.

If you want to get your medical information from a trial lawyer instead of a doctor, that is your right.

No one had ever seen a 300lb person before William Perry in the 1985 Super Bowl. Now, every high school has half a dozen.
To be fair, though, when William Perry play football, the average weight of a starting office of lineman at the University of Georgia was about 245 pounds.

Human beings have just gotten bigger in general over the last 40 years.

But I totally agree with you, obesity is rampant, but blaming it on food dyes in food additives instead of the actual food itself is silly and is not going to lead anyone getting healthier.
