What does everyone think about Trump's latest nomination?

The problem w RFKJR isn't the covid shot or the flu shot. It is that he is straight up anti vax. Including stuff like polio. Skepticism over new drugs and new vax's and such is fine... Questioning something like the polio shot that no doubt 10000000% is as effective as anything in this world has ever been, is a huge problem
Questioning the Covid vaccine in 2024 it’s just stupid. It’s literally one of the most widely used drugs in the history of earth, and has been administered billions of times.

It is saved millions of lives, and I am so grateful to the drug companies in the researchers who work there for making it.

It was always stupid when Democrats tried to hate on our biotech industry, but now Republicans are putting their new spin on it. Just silly.

But are Republicans going to keep the same energy when it comes to the Director of the Federal trade commission? Or is the Director of the FTC going to let every company merge and squeeze out small players and competition?

If you’re going to be an honest person, you cannot pick and choose your spots to say that regulators need to “get tough“ on the companies they regulate.

Frequently, regulators come from industry, and industry becomes regulators, because these are the people who are experts in that particular industry. I understand that that is confusing to a lot of people, but most people don’t work and highly complex industries. With all due respect, there is nobody on this message board right now, that’s qualified to regulate the world of financial derivatives. In order to have the knowledge to even start that, you would have to have worked in the world of financial derivatives. Same thing with genetic medicine, same thing with vaccines, etc. anybody off the street can go around and regulate your local deli, these industries are incredibly complex.
I own a highly regulated business and know first hand how some of the regulations are enacted by people that have no clue. In fact, in my industry it's not uncommon for the regulators to propose regs, conduct hearings and side with the concerned public over industry experts and enact regs that are actual more dangerous to the public. So, no, I'm not advocating for tougher regulations. I'm arguing for honest and transparent regs.

You see, I have no way of judging whether Remdesivir is worth a grand a pill and if Ivermectin has any antiviral properties that may be of some benefit. What I do know is Ivermectin isn't just horse paste and when a government agency uses the media to push that narrative, it will raise some eyebrows and damage public trust. I also know when some of the regulators have skin in the game, they are more likely to be sympathetic to that which they regulate.

He will be in position to completely ban all of these evil food additives that he post YouTube videos about.

Serious question – do you really think once he does that United States is just going to get healthy and skinny?
Clearly, you have no idea what you're talking about:

There are several problems with food in the US: LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK

  • Unregulated additives
Companies can introduce new additives without informing the FDA, so regulators don't know about the immediate dangers or long-term health effects. LINK
  • Chemicals in packaging
Chemicals like PFAS, phthalates, and bisphenol A can migrate from food packaging into food. These chemicals can harm the developing fetus, suppress the immune system, and disrupt the endocrine system. LINK
  • Additives that cause allergic reactions
Additives used to give food a marketable quality, like color, can cause allergic reactions and digestive disorders. LINK
  • Additives that affect growth and development
Some additives can interfere with a child's hormones, growth, and development. LINK LINK
  • High consumption of processed foods
More than half of packaged food and beverage products bought by US households contain three or more additives. This can lead to increased consumption of sugar, sodium, and saturated fats. LINK
  • FDA's approval of perchlorate
The FDA approved the use of perchlorate in food handling equipment and dry food packaging more than 50 years ago, even though there was limited or no safety data. LINK
  • FDA's lack of resources
The FDA doesn't have the resources it needs to efficiently obtain information about chemicals already on the market. LINK

....but, sure. It's just about Youtube videos.

Why did you copy and paste all that stuff and not answer my question?

Why did you copy and paste all that stuff and not answer my question?
Because it was a dismissive question that did not reflect the actual issue or what I said. Why don't you respond to what I did post or the long list of data I provided, instead of sarcastically dismissing it?

But, here's your answer: Improving our food and what we put in our bodies is just one step in making the US healthier.

Additionally, the worst foods to eat are also the cheapest. So, we make the less fortunate less healthy, which puts a bigger burden on our medical system.

If you want to get your medical information from a trial lawyer instead of a doctor, that is your right.
If there is a doctor that receives commissions from a drug manufacturer and he issues the results of a study and there is a lawyer that used independent experts in the field to produce a study and then shared the results, I'm likely leaning on the lawyer's info. And if that doctor is pushing hard to vaccinate those he knows will see no benefit from the vax, I want an investigator to figure out if he truly believes it's in the public interest or if he's pursuing favor with the industry.

It is a free country and you are free to believe anything you want and get your information from any source that you choose.

If you are interested in internet conspiracy theories, I wish you the best.

Did you look at any of the links? Nothing I provided is a "conspiracy theory". Some were even peer-reviewed studies. I'm not sure what the issue is with wanting to eat healthier.

I’m in wait and see mode and skeptical about RFK. When I hear he wants to promote drinking unpasteurized raw milk I suspect he is a lunatic.

If vaccinations only ever affected the person who chose to get them or not, then I think everyone would support your idea. However, vaccinations, do not only affect you. Which is why they are required as a society for children to enter schools.
Totally agree on some vaccinations. As kids we all had to take the MMR vaccine to attend school. I’m at the age that we were given smallpox sugar cubes cubes and got the shot in my left arm.
I’m more talking about recent vaccines that have been proven not to prevent the spread of a virus yet was required in many areas or you were faced with isolation or loss of employment.

The way the Covid stuff happened under Biden was wayyy too statist, too hard handed, and has generated lasting resentment. As evidenced in this thread.

I know how you feel.

But I would implore every American to not go from here to “well now I’m not sure about vaccines”.

I watched a video last night on RFKJ (because I didn’t know much about him) and he’s a kook. He said that he wants to see more evidence for the safety of the MMR schedule. The MMR schedule!!

This is a vaccine that has been administered billions of times. Billions! How much evidence does he need? Trillions? Quadrillions? We basically have Jenny McCarthy running HHS.

Come on. At some point, people need to lower the temperature and trust the experts and the data.

Thats fair but, Gaetz was not even being considered for AG a week ago. RFK, since he is a vaccine denier, was thought to be too toxic for an official position, and most thought he would hang around the white house in some unofficial capacity.

Putting Gaetz in charge of the FBI is insane. It makes the deranged Democrats look correct.

And no one was predicting the Fox News host to lead the DoD. The DoD is the largest employer on Earth. Think about that.

So these really are out of left field.

Anyway. They’re here now, so we’ll see how they do. But Trump has put highly risky picks in every single cabinet postion. He would need a real parlee in order for them all to come up good.

I am not a Trump fan, and am proud to not have voted for him in 2016, but this is too wacky for me.

Both parties are doing a bunch of wacky stuff.
Did you vote for him this time?

Does matter at all that this Twitter post is just wrong? I suspect it won’t.

Why do we need all the conspiracy theories? Can we not just admit that none of us probably eat enough vegetables?

Also, since everyone in this thread seems so concerned about health, I assume everyone here is vegan? Or at a minimum, on the Atkins diet? Because if you’re eating fast food more than once per year, but you’re complaining that it’s “food dyes” that are

making us sick, I have to laugh out loud.
If you research the people listed in the X post, you'll find everything it says is true. Why are you assuming it's all fabricated? Because we're all conditioned to think that the government and the medical establishment have our best interest.

There's no conspiracy theory here brother, but there's certainly a pattern of conflict of interest. Obviously most Americans diets are crap, because most of the food we eat is GMO crap or is inundated with poisons/toxins.

We eat clean, grass fed beef and organic as much as possible in our household, but most Americans are clueless through no fault of their own. Instead of jumping to conclusions and accepting the legacy media telling you everything is fine, either do some research or just sit back and watch how RFK tries to move us from being the sickest country in the world to where we should be with our means.

IMO this is way too simplistic. You have to ignore a lot of factors to say diversity is the cause.

Why was American not this fat prior to the 2000's? Are you saying immigration was the only cause that made 75% of the population overweight/obese?
Why does the FDA say it is acceptable for a 1 year old to receive 10% of their daily calories from sugar?
What other countries subsidize sugar?
What other countries put cheap corn sugar in all their processed food?

The food pyramid was changed when they had the war on "fats" in the diet in the 1990's. Fats were cut and replace with carbohydrates (sugar). Might there be a connection? Could it be recommending 6-11 servings of bread/cereal/pasta vs 5-9 fruits/vegetables had an impact?
Simplistic you say? On something called the Dawgvent chat? Hm….
We subsidize sugar for the same reason we subsidize other American industries because the American sugar producer/ farmer is protected against foreign competition. The answer is to end sugar subsidies . Agreed . While we’re at it- maybe we can end other subsidies via tariffs - like steel and aluminum.
Obviously- obesity in the US is not totally tied to immigration. But our culture is eclectic and dynamic. Not static / homogeneous like the Japanese. Our obesity is certainly not because American industry preys upon us. (Quit making me eat the French fries. Oh RFK- can you protect me from myself?)

RFK has alluded to the fact that drinking water shouldn't be infused with fluoride by various govts,...and it doesn't mean that if a ground swell of support at the local level exists for drinking fluoride that those people will be deprived...they can take pure water and add a satchet of fluoride to it if they are true believers of chemical additicies,....fluoride will not be illegal,. Go get it and use it,...but imagine the use of fluoride in drinking water is not a grassroots movement

No one had ever seen a 300lb person before William Perry in the 1985 Super Bowl. Now, every high school has half a dozen.
Growth hormones and steroids in the meat, milk and food supplies. Half our vegetables have no nutritional substance as the soils they are grown in are almost devoid of any minerals or nutritional elements. Two or three generations raised on Happy meals, fries and chicken nuggets all accompanied by a Big Gulp sized soda drink. Go the store and watch the people with 4 6 packs of Mtn. Dew hanging on their cart....pure sugar. Assisted suicide.....

Dude. This chick lost her medical license for telling patients that ivermectin can help with COVID (note: it does not), was sentenced to prison for refusing to leave the Capitol building on 1/6, and is now being sued by her former business partners because she took all the money they raised for their weird anti-vaccine group and spent it on her lavish lifestyle.

She is a con-artist telling you what you want to hear.

You probably wanna find someone else to get your medical information from than this convict who is on Twitter.

Good for you then. I would just say give him a chance. He might surprise you.

I have no choice. If he starts any of this anti-vaccine nonsense, I’ll lose it.

The food dye thing is simply incorrect, but what do I care if companies have to use organic food dyes? Other than it will raise the cost of goods.

And I hope no one is waiting for the removal of food dyes to cure any diseases (it absolutely won’t).

At least I don’t have to deal with the woke sh!t for four years.

The food dye thing is simply incorrect

Once again, you keep regurgitating the 'food dye' thing, which is an ancillary part of the issue. Don't believe me? Listen to self-proclaimed liberal Doctor from "Morning Joe"

A few quotes:

  • A former Obama administration official admitted Friday morning that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. “does have some ideas” about chronic illness that are “worth pursuing”
  • Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, who is viewed as the architect of Obamacare, admitted that he thought Kennedy's focus on chronic illness might benefit the country
  • “I should say he does have some ideas that are worth pursuing, such as focusing on chronic illness. 85 to 90 cents of every dollar we spend on health care goes to chronic illness,” Emanuel said. “We have to focus on them. They are our big problems, whether hypertension, cancer, debates, arthritis, and we have to get our arms around them and he is right to improve the nation’s health.”
  • “You have to attack chronic disease,” Emanuel continued. “He also writes that we have to look at ultra-processed foods in the food chain and how they cause obesity in the country and stop that. And we have to get conflict of interest issues out of the review of drugs, devices, nutrition, et cetera.”
Again, why is a desire to make US food healthier a bad thing? The overall desire to remove unnecessary, unregulated (don't believe me? check my links I've already provided), and unhealthy items is a "good" thing.

This is a bipartisan issue. It just needs a politician willing & motivated to fix (i.e. not beholden to special interests and $$)

He's not anti-vax
Yes he is. He thinks the measles, mumps, rubella vaccine causes autism. He thinks the Covid vaccine is "the deadliest vaccine ever made." He doesn't think flu shots are safe. He thinks flouride in drinking water causes arthritis, bone cancer, IQ loss, thyroid disease. He's a certified nutjob.

American pharmaceutical companies are a gift to humanity ..and the covid vax was fine ..BUT…the reason RFK has gained traction with the public is the way govt and media overplayed the Covid vax.

More study needs to be done on the vax’s impact on the young. Myocarditis?
Also- it didn’t stop one from getting the virus. Take the shot- still get sick. By the way- I didn’t see a dime’s worth of difference between those that took the shot and got sick and those that did not take it and got sick. Most likely- only those with predispositions for respiratory problems and old people should have taken it. I wish I hadn’t taken it.

Shut down schools? That was an abomination. Those policies have given RFK a following. RFK is a crackpot. Genetically modified foods? Another gift to humanity.
When RFK talks- I hear a hippie from the 1960s - advocating for Angela Davis and talking about how bad American Industry is. Ugh!

Full Text:

Nominated Department of Health and Human Services lead Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s questioning of vaccines and current health models makes him “more science-oriented than a lot of his critics,” former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield said on “CUOMO.”

"I mean, I'm probably one of the biggest advocates for vaccine. You mentioned that when I was CDC director, I would say that I think vaccines are the greatest gift of science to modern medicine. And I still believe that. Kennedy's not anti-vaccine. What Kennedy is about, is transparency about vaccine, honest discussion about vaccines, asking for the data to show that these vaccines are safe and they're efficacious."

"And the mere question of asking, what's the data for safety, many of his detractors say, okay, well, you're anti-vax. No, just show me the safety data, show me the efficacy data. I have high confidence that Kennedy is going to be a strong suborder of transparency on vaccines. And where the vaccine data shows that they're efficacious and a benefit to the American public, he will promote them."

"I think, Brian, we need transformational change. Right now we've created over the last 20, 30 years, we've developed a disease system. We need to make a health system. And when Kennedy says he wants to help make America healthy again, when I was CDC director, one of the challenges was we lost about 1.2 million people died of COVID. Other countries like Taiwan lost less than 10,000 people."

"Why did we lose so many people? We lost so many people because we're sick nation and Kennedy, he really committed to making us healthy again. And I do agree with you. We should all get behind them. Making a healthy America is not a partisan issue. We ought to get behind them and help them make us healthy again."

He is not against vaccines, he just wants more testing done before giving it to the public.
He actually claimed the polio vax killed more people than polio.

You want to wait and see on new experimental vax like covid etc. I agree. Polio vax which has been around for 75-80 years? And its results are not debatable… Just dumb

Unless there is data that shows a vax actually retards spread to an appreciable degree, vaxing anyone not at risk is/was unwise, esp when long term side effects can't be determined or even predicted. (Think about the young ESPN sideline reporter that was forced out because she didn't want to endanger her ability to reproduce.)

Yes, 20 or so out of 1 mil is a low risk rate but it's higher than 0 out of 1 mil and heart issues aren't the only issues reported with this Vax. What I expect from my government when it comes to vaccines and chemicals in my food is truth and transparency. We shouldn't be 3 plus yrs into a vaccine regiment without a chart showing risk/efficacy for every age and risk group. The fact we're trying to jab healthy 1 yr olds makes picking RFK Jr look like a stroke of genius.

Assume all you want but we've been lied to from the start about the covid jab. From 100% safe and 100% effective to take the jab to stop the spread, we were gaslighted by people that had a financial stake in the use of the vax. I don't care if the person compiling the data is a doctor, lawyer or plumber, I just want accurate info in order to make the right decisions for me and my family and as of today, I trust RFK Jr a lot more than I would trust Fauci.
Totally agree. If a person still trusts our government after all of the Covid mandates and lies then I am concerned for them.
