Will never forget when I retired from Football. It was sixth
grade and we were starting our first practice of the year. I was a small but quick whiteboy so they had me at scat back. This big black kid named Leo was our starting MLB. He was 175 at the time and was supposed to be in the 9th grade already but he was indeed left behind so to speak. Anyway they pitched the ball to me and we met head on. I remember rotating in the air to the point where I saw the sun 3 different times before I hit the ground (is that 540 degrees?)...that was all she wrote.
I actually saw him a year or so ago. He was out of prison at the time and his pitbull had taken a huge chunk out of his foot/ankle area. He said he had nerve damage that they cannot repair and he now walks with a constant limp. He claims his pitbull was on the chain and was angry because a dog was in heat nearby. He never really got any taller since that special day in 1991 and due to his injury I feel like I could easily run around him these days.
