UPDATE SEC Baseball Standings heading into today....it's a scrum for second place

....between Arkansas, LSU, Vandy and UGA.
Finish fourth and Bulldogs will get a double bye for the SEC Tournament.
Most importantly though, one more win will earn Bulldogs a national seed.
Say it every year, but its nuts how good the conference is for baseball.

SEC Standings

On Cantwell

Things got a little crazy with the money, will go ahead and say it UGA and Oregon got in a bidding war and lost. UGA and Oregon also place emphasis on not gutting their class for a specific one or two recruits and now it’s a cap space game.

Never gave his solid word it’s UGA on his visit. I NEVER looked at him as a lock, said as much here mid visit this weekend. He was set to commit to Miami a few weeks ago. Think he’d rather be at UGA, but the combo of 2.5 mil (that’s NUTS btw) and he believes in Mario and Mirabal when it comes to high end OLs they’ve put out - was enough to put them over the top. Pendulum has changed here a lot within last few weeks, sometimes those swing back especially when it’s 7 months til signing day.. but if UGA goes about it’s class like Cantwell isn’t in it (like I expect) then I don’t think funds will be there by December to play ball here.

I expect UGA to now be aggressive with some guys that I wouldn’t have pegged in UGA’s class if Cantwell was in it - which actually gives me optimism as I don’t think Cantwell is some superhuman OT… not sour grapes and I think he’s a top 15-20 talent in a decent year but he’s not the #1 player in the nation and I’m confident in saying that. Probably will be a 3 year starter at OG then RT and go pro, he’s a damn good player and losing out here stings but you may get 2 high end dudes that you probably wouldn’t have now imo… we’ll see who will get that Cantwell leftover money 🤔

Wasn't going anywhere for a discount

From Greg Smith's story on how Jackson Cantwell ended up at Miami :

So when did the decision get made and how difficult was it to make? The final call was made less than 48 hours before his announcement ceremony.

“So after the unofficial visit to Georgia I took last week I was on the plane ride home in an uncomfortable seat,” Cantwell said. “There was no room at all and I had no Wi-Fi on the plane, and my thinking was, 'All right, I'm going to sit here. I'm going to think for an hour and a half and I'm going to figure out where I'm going to go. It’s either Georgia or Miami. By the end of this (flight) I'm going to know.'

“At the end of the flight I knew I was going to Miami. I told my parents in the car ride on the way home, and they seemed to agree with me. I'm glad they're on board with it because I thought through the decision a lot and I think that was what was best for me.”

In the end, Miami “just kept doing everything right” according to the Cantwells. The elephant in the room is the discussion around NIL and the role it played in this decision. The No. 1 player in the country wasn’t going anywhere on a discount. Every program in the final group put together competitive offers.

But Miami didn’t just have NIL going for it. The combination of the coaching staff, campus and development plan also played key roles in why Cantwell is now all about The U.

Not sure how much of this I believe but it's interesting to hear.
