One of the most shocking and worrying parts of this season is the total team regression. I can’t think of one player or position on the team that actually got better this season (outside of Jalon Walker). Defense, offense, and special teams (especially tonight) seem to have regressed exponentially. I’m not sure how this gets addressed across multiple position groups.
This is a big deal. Players are going to be shorted necessary recovery and practice time due to a terrorist related event. No matter which team wins, the set schedule is a disadvantage for the Sugar Bowl victor. Of course this is the same group that gave Boise State and Arizona State a bye.
