At some point, CKS is gonna have to ask is this acceptable. Is this going to remain the standard. Adapt or get left behind is the name of the game. He has eventually done so, but is often slow in doing so. I have no doubt much of this season has driven him nuts. My only hope is that he is able have the perspective to see what needs to be done.

I'm grateful we won the SECC this year. With this team and staff, that was no small feat. Moving forward though, in this new NIL era and with this playoff system, what we have and what we have been trending toward is not good if we hope to truly compete for another championship. Time for some changes. Gonna be an interesting off season.

Regarding NIL's influence on coaching decisions

What's the consensus on how NIL is setup and spent? If a team has a QB who is getting $3,000,000 in compensation, but is struggling during the season, what all does the coach have to consider when contemplating a change at the position. Does he run the risk of losing future NIL support by benching the guy? Or, is that not a consideration he needs to think about. Serious opinions only...lol. No smart asses, please.

Clear College Football Totem Pole being confirmed so far IMHO…

Now if only fools like “the committee” and Booger “double down on SMU despite them being murdered at the half in a hostile environment because they came back on CLEMSON to ALMOST win and that’s the same thing” McFarland could comprehend the following grid to inform their decisions and prognosticating…

“Title Contender” Caliber
Top half of SEC

Top quarter of BIG10 (group of 16, whatever the hell they call themselves now)

“Quality Teams You Best Not Sleepwalk Against” Caliber
Bottom half of SEC
Notre Dame
Boise State and ASU? (TBD)

“Crapshoot of Interchangable Programs with Mediocre Ceilings” Caliber
Entire ACC

Entire Big12 (minus ASU?)

Bottom 3/4 of BIG10 (I mean BIG16, no I mean BIG10)

Programs from the “Group of 5” (minus Boise State?)

Unique perspective request…

@brollinspff and @dayneyoung
Everyone talks about team speed - game speed. Does PFF provide top speed at impact on tackle or top speed of defense during plays vs top speed of QB’s, RB, TE’s, & WR’s with and without ball in hands - running routes, with ball, etc?

Has ND played any team with our speed on offense, defense, special teams? Where does ND rank in these same terms?

Does the correlate enough to impact the outcome of game?

Proposal for New College Football Structure

-1 League structured like NFL with conferences and divisions. There is also league wide salary cap for NIL.
-Kids can commit to school of their choosing but only for league wide pre-set contracts with escalation each year (100k, 150k, 200k for example). There is a 2 year stay obligation and then you can portal or renegotiate but you cannot be paid less than 3rd year minimum contract if you stay on the team. Similarly after 2nd year the school can cut you loose and you are free to go to any other school in the league or drop down.
-If kids want more money than the above guarantee they enter into a draft prior to matriculation which is structured like the NFLs and are obligated to spend at least two years at the school that drafts them. Contracts from the draft could result in more money (there would be an overall salary cap) but again there is obligation to stay 2 years and you may be playing for a bottom feeder. After 2 years the player can reneg as above, portal, or be cut and go elsewhere

This is obviously not a perfect system as I just thought of it. It’s meant to inspire conversation.
