If you really care about kids with cancer, you might want to look into how cancer research has been impacted by budget cuts at the National Cancer Institute, the National Institutes of Health and major research centers like UNC and other universities.
Elon’s cuts are doing immediate and long term damage to programs that can’t simply be rebuilt and restarted from where they were halted if/when anyone figures out what a disaster they caused.
It’s going to result in deaths just like the unnecessarily chaotic destruction of USAID is going to result in deaths. So save us the “Dems hate kids with cancer” BS. If you actually care about kids with cancer and not just owning the libs in meaningless political theatre, you’d be incredibly concerned about what’s happened in the last six weeks.

That is the thing that was shocking to me. In the past, Dems would not break wind without running it by a focus group and even if they found a policy distasteful and would never pass it in a million yrs, they would give lip service to the cause. It made me wonder who if anyone was running the show for the Dems last night. Outrage about political theatre featuring a child with cancer is incredibly hypocritical when this administration has been haphazardly cutting programs that are critical to developing cures and treatments for kids with cancer (and a lot of other maladies).
DOGE still hasn't found any fraud and has proven that they don't understand basic accounting or contracts, don't understand what they are cutting or the impacts of those cuts, and are doing so at a pace that makes any reasonable process of evaluation completely impossible.
And all this is without any consideration for the millions of people impacted by the destruction of USAID over the course of a few weeks, which will also kill a lot of kids and adults in the most impoverished nations. Of course, those are mostly brown kids, so, you know, tough luck. What I do know is this - American taxpayers (this is your money and mine) are not on board with Congressionally approved spending bills filtering into a maze of NGO's wrought with inflated salaries and too many questionable expenditures and causes to count.
In the private world, leading investors to think they are investing in one thing and then spending it on something else is considered fraud. I don't care what you call it.
The process of finding waste should be applauded, even if you don't like the messenger or the way it is being communicated.
You are on the record on the belief that many good expenditures are going to be cut, and that will translate to reduced services. Can you also admit that a ton of bullshit is gonna be cut?
I would argue that the American people are 100% on board with some level of tradeoff here. And given the size of the federal government and the hundreds of thousands of tentacles in terms of the flow of cash out......the only way to diagnose what is and what isn't worthwhile is to begin cutting and then assessing the fallout - the American taxpayer will have the opportunity to self correct items that were cut that were worthwhile.
We don't have a choice. The deficits post-Covid are ridiculous. Instead of re-verting to a "pre-Covid" stance post-Covid, the Biden admin chose not to let a good crisis go to waste....and re-set the bar on spending.
Also - you are correct on the behavior of the Dems last night. Next level shameful, and did themselves no favors. Not only was Trump able to complete sentences (I'm sure you would now concede that whole narrative was absolutely ridiculous)......he laid out a plan and a positive vision for the country in all the categories that matter to most Americans......admittedly in a way designed to goad the Dems at times (and got the desired response).

I don't like Trump's style but as a small business person that operates in a heavily regulated arena, I'm ecstatic that the fed gov is being revamped and I don't think there were more than a handful of Americans that would have been change agents and could have taken the arrow that have been aimed at Trump. Iows, 34 felony charges for a minor bookkeeping dispute is evil. Auditing fed agencies and asking employees to justify their jobs, not so much.
