culture with little regard to context, time and place. Where are lines drawn? All of you guys have said something at one point that would get you fired (and you would certainly be unelectable) if you were held to the suffocatingly stringent standards many of you seem to fine holding others to.
Once enough of the world gets too comfortable with mining everyone's transgressions (doesn't matter if they are recalling something they said in the past, even if it's something they regret or if they made a joke once) this gotcha culture will take on a life of its own and the standards will be so suffocating that we lose our humor and nobody will ever be able to make a candid statement again for fear of how it will be interpreted. And nobody will be forgiven, unless maybe they parade themselves on an apology tour and forfeit their dignity.
The bottom line is people are weaponizing grief and acting like cartels. People will start cannibalizing each other like it's nothing, just waiting to pick the bones like vultures. Real life is becoming like the scene from Invasion Of The Body Snatchers where the infected point and make blood curdling noises when they discover someone who isn't infected.
Just know that once this culture hits terminal velocity, everything will be considered offensive by somebody and nobody will be safe from a mob that will that is resistant from checks... because reason will be a thing of the past.
Having a set of standards for transgressors is fine. But there also needs to be a set of standards for those wielding the pitchforks.
