You will be disappointed, story is so different
The book wasn't exactly accurate either.
The Hugh Glass story was first written about 2 years after it happened. The story was published back east where at that time newspapers were printing the most outrageous exaggerations about events in the west. These ''stories'' went on for decades from Glass to Jesse James, all the way to the end of the 1800s.
It wasn't till the early 20th century that real historians tried to cobble together enough real evidence to print facts. Even today there is a wide range of myth and fact being published.
From what I can put together it seems most likely Glass was left when it seemed He was dying. He didn't even have a Son, let alone have Him murdered by FitzGerald. He was found by friendly Indians within a few days or weeks. The Indians treated Him and let Him heal, then guided Him down river to the fort, which was most likely under 100 miles away. He never took revenge, He most likely forgave Bridger and FitzGerald.
To Me the most remarkable member of Their party isn't even mentioned in The Movie, at least I didn't catch it if He was. Jedediah Smith had a remarkable life after the expedition, it even surpassed Jim Bridger's IMO.
A footnote. If You're ever in the area I strongly recommend The Museum Of The Mountain Man in Pinedale Wyoming. I stumbled onto it back in 1997 while traveling The Rockies from Arizona to Canada on a hiking/photography adventure. It has Bridger's gun and many other interesting artifacts.
