Pence speaks at a conservative conference, the crowd chants 'Traitor"

1. Discrimination against lgbt folks. Why don't pubs just leave those people alone and let them live their lives the way they want to. What's it to you?

2. Religious intrusion onto everyone else. This country was founded on religious freedom and that means that everyone is free to worship or not worship as they please. What it doesn't mean is one religious group can force their beliefs on everyone else.

3. Vote suppression and gerrymandering. This is 2021 voting needs to be easy and accessible.... I don't want to hear that fruad nonsense. There hasn't been any meaningful amount of fruad and those that have been caught there are just as many right wingers trying it as left. Gerrymandering should be illegal for both sides. I'm sick of a state voting 53% one way yet the party that has 53% ends up winning 70% of the seats. We need the house of representative seats given out proportionately to the votes. If you win 53% you should get 53% of the seats.

3. The tendency of the republican party to tolerate some very bad people i.e. white supremacists and self proclaimed Nazis just because they vote for republicans.

4. Common sense gun laws. I myself am a gun rights person. I own firearms and I don't think the AR15 should be banned. Having said that the second amendments gives us the right to own a firearm not sell one. Why on god's green earth are far right folks against universal background checks? Makes zero sense.

5. QAnon - Nuff said

I could list a lot more but these type are the type of things that make it impossible for me to vote republican until the republicans become sane again. I voted for Reagan, the first Bush twice but after The first Bush the republicans boarded the crazy train and I had to leave. I'm not 100% on board with everything left but it's far better than the right at the moment.

I know what you're going to say.... Same thing my brother in law says. But, But SOCIALISM! All I can say about that is PULEASE! Conservatives have been screaming socialism since the 1940s and it's not happened yet you guys need to find a new schtick.
90% of this is horse shit. It seems to me that wherever you get your information from might need to change to somewhere more reliable. This seems like stuff Brian Stelter would make up for a broadcast.

1. You could say why are they shoving their lifestyle in our faces so much? You cant sling a dead cat without hitting someone thats LGBTQ and I couldnt care less what folks do in their bedrooms. This is no longer an issue , except for you.

2. Its never been as easy to vote as it is right now

3. WRONG

4. What?

5. Qanon is complete BS, most folks dont even know what it is. Seriously, quit watching MSNBC or whatever you are watching or reading, your info is bad.

1. Well, I see you couldn't list a policy here and went on a sophomoric rant. There is no current far right policy to discriminate against LGBT folks. Quit frankly, most pubs I know do want to leave them alone and let them do what they do. Now, I don't want a woman swinging a schlong in the restroom with my 11 yr old granddaughter and I don't wish to pay for their elective surgeries. Other than that, leave me the hell alone and I'll leave you the hell alone.

2. WTF? Again, you cited no far right policy of Trump that attacks religious freedom. There is no far right Trump policy that attempted to prohibit anyone from peacefully practicing their religion.

3. LMAO, Trump literally condemned white nationalist groups, disavowed extremist groups that expressed their support and did so on numerous occasions. I'd be willing to bet you wouldn't know who the proud boys or boogaloos were if they hadn't shown up to fight the fascist antifascist. Trump acknowledged and condemned violence committed by those claiming to support him. The dems, not so much.

4. I don't know? Second amendment maybe? We not only have laws, we have constitutionally guaranteed rights to own firearms. It's funny how you associate anyone wanting to protect our rights as a far right person. There is a way to address outdated constitutional protections and it isn't unconstitutional laws or activist judges.

5. Oh yes, the Trump Qanon plank. Do you even realize how ridiculous it is to spew Qanon?

I'm fine with agreeing to disagree but your guy is appointing people that tell a 10 yr old white girl that she is an oppressor, prepubescent boys they can become girls, contribute to bailing out rioters and wish to integrate the CCP more into our institutions. And the pubs are the crazy ones?

Just another CNN democrat who makes stuff up. Nice rebuttal. "QAnon-Nuff said", LMAO.

If. Boy wants to be a girl what the hell is it to you? I don't get it.

Those aren't policies? Really? Because Trump campaigned on a lot of that.

On 4. Did you even read what I wrote? I said I am a gun owner and support firearms and owning them but the 2nd doesn't give you the right to sell them. Gun shops have to do a background check but Joe caca off the street can just sell to any tom, dick or felon without doing one and that's all fine? Everything I wrote about in my reply is a stated GOP policy and last I checked Trump was in the GOP.

My objections to Trump are vast as are the policies I don't like. To give you an example Obama had signed an executive order that lobbyists couldn't get a job in Government and that former government employees couldn't lobby the government for 2 years after leaving the job. Trump reversed that and immediately hired lobbyists to join his administration. He changed the exit rule to one year but exempted cabinet level employees meaning they could immediately lobby the government after leaving.

I could list a lot more specific policies but I'm not going to try and argue with you because I can tell you're like my brother in law. He also doesn't hear past a key trigger word. For instance the gun rights thing. You saw common sense laws and immediately went to the same ol' right wing defensiveness thinking. The way you reacted one would think I was talking about serious rights infringement but you ignored the fact that I said I supported the right to own firearms including the AR. I went specific with it and talked about selling firearms in particular, which is my pet peave. Gun shops have to do a background check but I can sell 200 guns and 60k rounds of ammo to any tom, dick, or felon off the street without doing a background check. That makes zero sense and if made illegal wouldn't infrindge on our right to own a firearm at all.

Like you said we can agree to disagree. After all I still like my brother in law.

Background checks are doing such a great job of preventing shootings. It looks to me like there is a strong correlation between the number of background checks performed and the number of people getting shot.

And, in your prior post you stated “Everything I wrote about in my reply is a stated GOP policy and last I checked Trump was in the GOP.” Your 5th point in your referred-to post was “QAnon—Nuff said” before you edited it. Could you explain where in stated GOP policy you find QAnon? That contention is as nutty as a QAnon devotee.

If a boy wants to be pretend to be a girl, it's nothing to me but I don't want to participate in paying for reassignment. Also, we don't allow children to make life altering decisions for a reason. I'd say a kid that hasn't reached puberty isn't equipped to decide their sexuality. Once they are adults and can pay their own way, have at it. Hell, walk around in a barn yard calling yourself Francis the mule and screw donkeys and I won't GAS.

So, if you support allowing children to begin reassignment procedures, some without parental notification, women with schlongs in the same restrooms as minor girls and bio men competing in women's sport, school systems telling 10 yr old white children they are oppressors and me just wanting the government to perform is constitutional functions and to leave individuals to live their lives the way they wish with as little interference as possible means you are a centrist and I'm far right, I'll agree to disagree and wear your label as a badge of honor.
So, how many legal products are you going to prevent me from selling. I'd say I have a right to sell any legal product I legally own. As far as guns to Tom, Dick and Felons, maybe if your side would stop letting violent felons back on the streets and put them away for hard time if they were found in possession of an illegal firearm, then murder rates would plummet.

Trump appointed Richard Grennell head of national intelligence. One of the highest ranked openly gay public servants ever. In an intelligence job no less.

That's your number 1 reason to dislike Trump?

If your argument beyond that is Trump or Republicans do not believe biological males should be allowed to defy reality and compete against biological females then you are right - all of us including Trump are decidedly opposed to that irrational position of the LGBTQABCDTYJ community (they keep tagging on letters so I get confused).

Leftists have become near cultists in defiance of basic rationality and science...

Sigh. It wasn't Nov thru Jan 6 that divided the Pubs. It was a 4 yr campaign by supposedly loyal pubs to help subvert and defeat a POTUS that was enacting the policies THEY have been campaigning on for yrs and then caved on when elected. Pence isn't exactly Jeff Flake or John McCain but he isn't a fiery fighter either.

While I will agree the rhetoric aimed at Pence isn't fair, I don't think he has a huge amount of followers that will sit out the next election because part of the base said mean things about him. OTOH, folks that want to return to the lip service Pubs and can't let anything go, EVER, if it means they can take a shot at Trump are the folks allowing themselves to be divided.

The Pub base is basically the same folks but they have changed. No more BS, milquetoast Pubs that look for compromise when the compromises have simply been how much farther left they will go. The base Trump appeals to now wants folks that fight as hard for their interest as Dems fight against them.
I agree we need a conservative president who will carry out what he or she says. I disagree Trump is the only one who will do that (cannot tolerate any more of this foolishness that there is Trump and then every other politician is exactly the same - we are literally doing exactly what Dems want believing that horseshit).

And Trump clearly brings negatives that hurt us all.

He is petulant, dishonest, and couldn't give a damn less about you than an Antifa street thug. If you think he does you are naive about Trump. He is as self-centered as any politician in history.

Well, Trump is the first Pub POTUS that fought for what he campaigned on since Reagan. It's been down hill since GWB uttered read my lips.

Next, yeah Trump has warts and would definitely punch down BUT by the same token, I'm pretty sure I could make you look bad if I gave you a staff with 10% of them trying to destroy you and I had a dozen lawyers, unlimited FBI agents and 40 mil to spend investigating you. Heck, you might even call me a dirty SOB in a meeting that one of my plants could leak. For some reason Trump calling Schumer "Cryin' Chuck" and Pelosi "Crazy Nancy" after they have called him everything short of the Antichrist isn't something that turns me against Trump.

My final thought on Trump is I DGAS whether he or any other Pol cares about me. None of them do. All I want a Pol to do is fight for things like fair and reciprocal trade, less and only necessary and sensible regs, a government that proves it's spending our treasure wisely before they demand more money and has a live and let live philosophy. Trump pretty much hit on all those things and if it pissed off European leaders that he expected them to live up to their commitments, let them be pissed.

Now, I will agree that Trump's time is up as a candidate. The Pubs will either find another "populist" that fights like Trump for the working class or there will eventually be a split. What will hasten this split is if those Pubs that worked to subvert the Trump presidency continue to throw barbs at Trump and blame his voters for their own petulance and loss of seats.

Here is the way I see it. You and I probably agree on about 80% or more on as far as policy but you are still hung up on blaming Trump instead of trying to understand why a guy you think is vulgar won the loyal support of so many like you that don't usually support vulgar people. In my view, the people Trump was fighting were more vulgar by far and Trump usually was fighting fire with fire. Imo, instead of focusing on the hatred of Trump and by extension his supporters, they better start focusing on how to represent that base because that base is done with constantly compromising away our liberty.

This is way beyond being vulgar in tweets. It is about being sociopathic.

Exhibit A: Almost no one who ever worked for Trump ended up being anything other than publicly berated and mocked by him.

Let that set in a minute. Good, principled people. Who went to the mat for Trump and were in turn ridiculed with absolute petulance.

That is the antithesis of leadership and has all the markers of antisocial sickness.

Exhibit A: Almost no one who ever worked for Trump ended up being anything other than publicly berated and mocked by him.

Hyperbole. Yes, Trump would berate people he fired but I'm not sure you could say the people he fired and then berated went to the mat for him. Actually, even though he fired a lot of honorable men and women, most were trying to continue doing things the old way instead of going to the mat for his policies.

Maybe I missed it but I don't remember Trump blasting McEnany, Huckabee-Sanders, Grenell, Pompeo, KT Mcfarland and on and on. I would say the number of former employees he blasted were in a minority of people that actually worked for him. Trump did take unnecessary shots at guys like Mattis but I would say Mattis and others like him weren't exactly on the train either.

There are certainly style issues that I will roundly criticize about Trump but your post is another indication of why there is a split. You just can't stop yourself from attacking Trump when it's no longer about Trump. Trump showed that a candidate could talk frankly about criminal illegal aliens, that you COULD rework absurd trade deals, that the economy would thrive if you cut regs and lowered taxes on producers and he worked to get the ACA repealed in congress but was betrayed by members of his own party that had voted for a clean repeal in the past. Instead of revisiting the past mean tweets, it's time to start admitting Trump had the right ideas and the nads to fight for them even when being attacked by both sides. Promoting pols that are less temperamental but also swing an extra large sack should now be about the only thing the Trump haters should be talking about.

With respect friend, it is not truth. It is untruth.

The huge difference in the way states run by Republicans responded to COVID vs states that were run by Democrats responded is a really big example.

Would Georgia have reopened when we did if Abrams were governor? This only happened because Kemp had very different principles, planted his feet, and said (verbatim) "I don't give a damn about the politics" even with headlines like this.

We have got to stop being so immature in our response to politics. IMO.

One the most off base things ever heard on vent. The way republicans responded to Covid. Hahaha. The Dems botched it miserably. Not debatable
