First of all, with him resigning from the House, he avoids the publication of the evidence from the investigation.

Secondly, Trump realizes that, while the Senate is expected to support him, they still want to have the appearance of making their own decisions and not just rubber stamping anything Trump wants. So he probably expects, or maybe has even agreed behind the scenes, that he will serve up a sacrificial lamb for them to vote down.

So, it could be that nobody expects Gaetz to be confirmed. He avoids the embarrassment of whatever was going to come out, the Senate gets to look like that they will do what they feel is best and not just rubber stamp every appointee.

Why would Trump do this? As a favor to Gaetz and to show the Senate that he's willing to work with them to make them look good, while he still gets what he wants in the end. It could be that the next nominee for AG, if there is one, is who he really wanted all along.

De Santis could also appoint him to fill Rubio’s Senate seat. Lots of moving pieces with this.

Has this guy ever introduced legislation to ban the practice? Interviews are great for Twitter, because it tells the public what you want them to hear. But has this guy ever introduced legislation to ban the practice? If yes, I can get behind that. But if no he’s a charlatan.

Edit: also… term limits! We must agree we probably cannot root out all the bad behavior, so limit it in scope by limiting how long you can serve in Congress.

If people aren’t talking about term limits, they’re taking about nothing.

If Gaetz was a charlatan, the deep state wouldn't be putting up such a fuss about his appointment.

DOJ investigation found no wrong doing. Smh brother.
Correct.

1) but he admits he was at a party with drugs and hookers and that it was hosted by his friend. I have higher expectations than most for the head of the DOJ it seems.

2) I did not see you address his complete lack of qualifications.

What qualifications does he not meet?
He has no experience as a prosecutor.

He's never practiced law outside of Ft Walton Beach, FL.

He's a 2020 election denier, blaming Jan 6th on Antifa.

He's been delinquent on his bar dues.

He lies a lot: "1 out of every 5 people that the federal government charges with murder is an illegal alien."

He's had a dozen traffic-related charges, half of those after he became a lawyer.

You wouldn't hire this guy to draw up your will, let alone represent your nation as Attorney General.

He doesn't need to introduce a bill. There are new bills on the topic introduced every year in the Senate and the House. There are unenforced laws on the books today.

But somehow, those bills just never seem to make it out of committee. Those laws just aren't enforced very well, and minimal slaps on the wrist for the most part when they are used occasionally to "show diligence" or for retaliation.

Maybe a different approach is needed to get things moving.

A different approach is certainly needed. Term limits, and cannot buy or sell anything while in Congress. It’s a civil service, a duty to the country, not the “enrich yourself” time.

Trump is no better. He appointed his son-in-law the ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and after he left the White House, they gave him a $2 billion investment into the fund that he owns after never having done business with him before.

I’m sure that was all on the up and up 😏
