SIAP Dabo trending on twitter again...

I wonder why Democrats are so against school choice?
It weakens their control of the curriculum (ability to brainwash) and lessens the influence of one of their voting blocs (teachers union). In short, money and power. No issue better exposes their hypocrisy. When liberal politicians move to DC., one of the first things they do is enroll their own children in private schools.

I think a black president, far exceeds mediocrity, and to make light of that, shows a lack of understanding of the real progress this country has made. Unfortunately, the corruption and disaster of that administration, is why Trump got elected. I hope this moment in time, will not be wasted, and that more real and lasting progress will be made, But it won't come from those using racism as a way to push socialism or marxism. We all know how that always turns out. Over the past few days I have been encouraged, by many voices coming from the black community, pushing back against the far left, and willing to start a dialogue about the many issues facing black communities. I have a feeling there is going to be a reckoning politically, and it is going to shake the powers that be. I think there is going to be a spiritual revival started in the black community, that will touch the nation and send the entire country in a different direction. They will produce leaders that will tackle real issues, and reverse the horrible policies of the last 50 years, that has caused the breakdown of families, crime , poverty. and poor education. It won't be easy, and the party of Jim Crowe and slavery will try to stop them, but this time I think enough people will see through the division and hypocrisy and push through to a new day.
This is basically what I said last week. Let’s give some time for emotions to settle down, and the more reasonable voices to be heard, that is what Is happening right now. What was really scary are the amount of people subtly hinting that they were ready for the upcoming race war, and were locked and loaded, buying all the guns and ammo they could, etc. Wow, and to think they could post that stuff, and not probably be on a FBI watch list now........, better hide those unregistered guns real good cause Beto and Stacy are coming for them, lol.

Race war talk is silly (not directed at you khonelson) VERY few people want that despite what the media may suggest. Most Americans just want to get along.

The odds were stacked against me my friend. I was born and raised in Newark, NJ. My mother did the best she could raising me and my older brother up until she was murdered when I was 11 and he was 12. Pops left when I was only 2 years old. We bounced around from house to house but I was always a straight A student and ended up being valedictorian of my high school. I eventually decided to go to UGA since my Pops was living down in Dooly County with his new wife and I could get in-state tuition. A few small scholarships, pell grant and mostly student loans paid my way until I got an AFROTC scholarship. I had always found myself overcoming a really crappy situation, but when I got to UGA I though I had made it, I was a college kid now. I eventually was brought back down to reality when I was arrested in Best Buy in Athens for opening a CD I was purchasing and reading the poster on the inside. I had the wrapping, CD and CD case in my basket while I was walking to the cash register and security came and got me and called the cops. I figured I didn’t do anything wrong so I tried to be my own lawyer and was convicted of theft by intent. Apparently removing the wrapping, which had the security device on it, is a crime. They never considered that I still had the wrapping with said security device in my basket which was in my hand and that I was walking to the cash register. I knew from that moment that I would have to toe the line of perfection all of the time and no amount of degrees would ever change that. I say this all to say, I overcame the odds by being twice as good as my peers and attempting to toe the line of perfection with every step and at least a little bit of luck.
"Don't open up $hit you haven't paid for" should have been the easy lesson, but you obviously didn't get it.

I often wonder what it would take to unite Americans again, and unfortunately every scenario involves either war, or death. I’ve seen posters on here say they have more in common with conservative gator fans than liberal dawgs. That is how bad it’s gotten, lol.

You shoplifted. Now you know its wrong to open and ruin the packaging on a product that does not belong to you. Make sure you help teach others that you were wrong. You can turn a bad thing into a good thing for others, by sharing stories of your own transgressions, and how you grew as a person by changing your ways. God bless you, brother.

First of all, ass, I read plenty. Secondly, he never said that no further progress should be made. But the point being that there’s no better place anywhere else in the world. Yet, if you get on social media just for 10 minutes, you’ll see people say things like the system needs to be burned down & see videos of anarchist movements. Progress will always need to be made in all areas of society. But that doesn’t change the fact that every American should be at least a little thankful they live here.
He said you should leave. That is the point. If he leaves that part out the rest is just pointing out wins instead of being satisfied. Come on man.....

No, he was responding to all the empty proclamations of people moving out of the country if Hillary didn't get elected. I never heard of one such promise being kept.
He clearly tied the two together bud. Wouldn’t have said it if that wasn’t to emphasize his point. Can’t back out of what he said. Like I said pretty straightforward.

I agree because he sucked. Terrible take.
He may have guaranteed that we don't have another. And that's kinda bad. There are quite a few black people that don't hate America and would probably do a good job.

Yeah I realize where we live...been here long enough. No I don’t think the government or expectations are the same for 200 plus years. Yes I have had a disagreement with the way the country has been run. Of course we want the country to improve who doesn’t.

there is a difference in folks who hate this country and folks who want this country to evolve/improve for the betterment of its citizens

I stand by what the hell I said. If you so dearly hate this country there are plenty of countries that you can move to that might suit your ideals and beliefs Better....anything wrong with that????

Parading the streets, looting public business, Vandalizing public property that doesn’t belong to you reeking havoc over 6 square blocks of an American city while taking over police precincts under the premise of socialist and communist ideals....is hatred. That does not belong here and you are welcome to carry those ideas to another country.
Amen!

A large portion of the people he is talking about have pretty much proclaimed they hate the country. And you’re upset because somebody had the unique idea that if you hate a place, you might want to try somewhere else? A place that (as you admitted) has made progress & continues to make progress in this certain area of society.

I’m interested to know what you propose to do to address these subjects; it’s not because I don’t believe that there are disparities in each, there are, but proposed solutions often reveal whether we are engaged in a genuine debate over how to remedy them versus moralizing about then without doing the heavy lifting of actually changing them. We have decades of experience in what doesn’t work even as society has made significant progress with respect to institutional racism. And do you think access to skilled teachers and a quality curriculum is at the top or even near the top of the list of educational disadvantages most impoverished children face? If access to healthcare is an overriding concern, how do you propose to make the math work to ensure that minority citizens receive good health care? If it’s Medicare for All, how would you implement and pay for it, and who would be eligible?

If you genuinely care about remedying these disparities, put proposals on the table, and let’s discuss solutions. Otherwise, we will be having the same discussion 60 years from now, and I think most of us can agree that would be a terrible result.

IMO the greatest challenge our society faces today is the rising gap between the rich and the poor and the diminishing middle class... that problem is attributable to wage stagnation, poor planning by our leaders in preparing our working class communities for the transition to a service-based economy (which was inevitable with the advent of free trade), and a system of policies that can make it difficult for those without to break the cycle of poverty.

All of those things I mentioned in my previous post can limit the ability of the poor, and therefore a disproportionate percentage of minorities, from improving their lives.

First and foremost we need to get the money out of politics. And limit the ability private interest groups to push legislation that benefits them most and not society at large

The majority of bankruptcies in this country are attributable to medical debt. We pay more for medical care than any other developed country in the free world and we cover a smaller proportion of the population. We pay more for drugs and medical equipment developed here than other countries do...????
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5865642/

How do you pay for it? Every developed country In the world across every economic system has figured it out. I believe we can to.

we need to end the privatization of our prison system and the economic machine that drives it (and its influence on our politics).

we need to end mass incarceration (a problem perpetuated by dems and gop alike) in recent years bill clinton has admitted that his 1994 crime bill only worsened the disparities in our criminal justice system.

We need an education system that fund schools centrally and equally (like europe and Asia), the wealthiest 10 percent of U.S. school districts spend nearly 10 times more than the poorest 10 percent, and spending ratios of 3 to 1 are common within states. Just look at us literacy rates and graduation of students in math and the sciences.... the US is way behind.

All of these things would be a good start imo

Sure. I tell my kids never to open packages in the store until you have paid and that they will never be privileged enough to make it to the cash register with the open package no matter how much money they have in their pockets. SMDH.

We should also expand vocational training so we can prepare our workforce for the needs of our economy. Not ever should/ needs to incur debt to seek higher education.... this would help address another huge problem... student debt levels

If there ever is another war in America, God Forbid, It want be a race war. It will be between those who want freedom, and those who want conformity to globalist socialist doctrine. And there will be people of all races and nationalities on both sides.

Which side do you see yourself on in this fantastical tussle?

I live a very happy life, and wish no ill toward anyone. But we all know freedom ain't free, and sooner or later someones gonna try to take it. Just hope its not in my life time.
You shouldn't have violent fantasies against your fellow citizens. It's not healthy

Where anywhere in what I said did you get something that ridiculous. Do you know how many wars this country has been in since I've been alive. What makes you think there won't be more. I promise you there will be, and not because I fantasize about it. I've lost family members in war and wish there would never have to be another one, but we know there will be. Its not people like me that start wars or wish for them. That honor goes to the elites and politicos. We're just the poor bastards that have to fight and die in them

52nd in the world in infant mortality, 27th in education, 38th in Health, 27th in Environmental Performance, 45th in poverty rate............

You won’t like this but those numbers are skewed largely due to decades of horrible Democratic policy and leadership in big cities. Still doesn’t change the fact that this place offers the best opportunity to achieve your life’s goals.

We've had wars IN this country post 19th-Century? Huh.

And number 1 destination of almost every immigrant in the world. Somebody better warn them how bad it is, cause you can't keep'em out with a 30 foot fence.
So you expect asylum seekers from Central and South America to walk to Europe? And, by touting that stat, can I assume you think we should accept them? How liberal of you.

The point is that people are not satisfied and expect and deserve better. Anyone that is willing to rest on their laurels and not push for better circumstances is essentially halting progress. And saying if wanting more and better is how you feel then you should leave. What are you missing?

You do know that thousands of Chinese, Africans, and Middle easterners come across our southern border also. And no, if you do not come legally, you should not be allowed in. If you are a legal immigrant then welcome to America. Several years ago, I and my ex-wife sponsored her relatives from Chile. I had to accept financial responsibility for them if they could not find a job, as at that time, they could not get financial assistance from the government. They came legally and are now proud Americans. Man do they hate illegal immigration, and socialism. Now theres a guy that will fight you over it.

I didn’t take it that way but you do you I guess.

So asylum seekers are just freeloading criminals? Gotcha. And, you seem to equate authoritarianism with socialism; how do you feel about Social Security? Unemployment insurance? Medicaid?

Are you saying that "asylum seekers" and illegal immmigrants are the same thing? @KD41 didn't say anything about asylum seekers, he only talked about illegal immigrants. They are not the same thing, except that some illegals, when caught, seek asylum as a remedy for their crime.
