Tariffs and inflation

Trumps rating as of today is 47% approval and starting up today.
Some of these bogus polls and other false reports is probably part of the reason for the massive layoffs coming at CNN and MSNBC since both companies have lost one half of their net worth in the last 2 years.
BOOM! Winning!

A little unsolicited advice. Attempting a reasonable or logical exchange with Cherry is entirely off the table.
coming from the master of all masters of unreasonableness I'll take it. You can't deal with truth. Only dim propaganda and lies. So no, there is no way for you to have a reasonable of logical exchange with anyone. The whole dim party is one illogical dim thinking unreasonable corrupt mess. You live there. Nothing you bring to the table is ever from a logical or reasonable view point. russia rusia russia nazi nazi nazi. Those are most of the words you have used over the last 8 yrs. Your side was/is so BAD, trump won the electoral and popular vote. If you can't relax and actually talk about things that are truthful and not russia russia russia nazi nazi nazi dim propaganda, just don't talk.

I'm not dismissing this as a potential win. But I still have questions.

Biden secured a commitment from MX for 10k troops on the border early in his term. Does this new agreement represent an incremental increase in MX troops on the border or not?

Given the statistics I shared above, I'm not sure more troops will have a huge impact on fentanyl traffic, but it certainly won't hurt anything.

I am very happy to see that the agreement includes a commitment from Trump to stem the flow of guns from the US to MX, given the vast majority of guns used in crimes in MX originate in the US. Seems a win for MX given that MX has been asking the US for this for years.

I guess when you aren't clear regarding what you are demanding, any movement can be claimed as a win. Given how our markets tanked this morning and what on the surface is not a revolutionary change in our relationship, it seems reasonable to ask who exactly blinked here.
oh yes biden closed the border....LMBO If brandon got 10k Mx troops to the border it was for the sole purpose of helping escort milliongs of illegals across the border. Every, clear thinking person knows biden and borders are an oxymoron. \

will, how can you say such things. I know you were indoctrinated at a fine university, but surely life has taught you a few lessons, like to not spew dim propaganda all the time.

The last border czar couldn’t hit water if she fell out of a boat.

It is funny. The lefties on the board are worried about trump making the country look stupid. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while. Biden and Kamala were the laughingstock of the world. Biden’s gaffes made tv news shows all over the place. Biden couldnt find Canada and Kamala can’t spell it without a teleprompter. Mexico is still waiting to be unburdened by what has been
All the sudden after 4 yrs of economic shi+, Dems are suddenly worried about 401 K’s …LMAO
Does not even compare to some of the drops of peoples 401K’s during periods of the God awful Biden admin..more hypocritical statements..LOL…but desperation reigns with Democrats right now..grasping for straws..it’s all they have…lol

S&P 500 increased 55% over Biden’s term as President. Doubt many 401k’s dropped. But carry on.

The point was to create some hype around a so called "WIN". During all the celebrations for this monumental accomplishment, his supporters wither failed to notice or care that their 401k accounts dropped 1-2% since the tariff talk started Friday morning.
You must not be aware of the concept of dollar cost averaging. With any dip, I can go and buy at lower prices. Did so, and now with the rebound, my portfolio is worth more than before the dip.

Ok, but what does that mean? MX already had more than 10k troops on the border and everything Canada committed to, other than naming a fentanyl czar, had already been announced and funded back in December.

So the two big developments were Trump promising to reduce the flow of guns from the US to MX and Canada promising to create a new position called Fentanyl Czar. Is that really worth creating utter chaos in the markets and global supply chains while trashing our reputation as a rational and stable partner? If he had actually gotten meaningful concessions, perhaps, but he didn’t.

Mexico and Canada weren't doing shit. And now, they'll be under the microscope to make sure they comply. Their economies can't afford the impact of tariffs....ours can.

Guess you haven't noticed Panama and El Salvador.

Look.....things are moving in a rapidly positive direction under PDJT. Your team lost(but America is winning)....the status quo is no longer acceptable. Your team was eaten up with waste and corruption, and your leaders are running scared.

It's great to have adults back in charge.

Nothing says "adults back in charge" quite like repeatedly suggesting that a primary policy goal regarding one of your longest and most reliable allies is to force them to become the 51st state.

Former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers told CNN that White House claims that Canada was inciting the trade war with the US were “absurd.”

“Canada is our friend, Canada is not an important source of illegal immigrants, Canada is not an important source of illegal drugs,” said Summers, who served former Democratic President Bill Clinton. “Canada is an important market for American products, Canada is a crucial co-producer with American automobile companies that enable North America to compete with Asia and Europe,” he said.

🤣🤣🤣

Didn’t happen during his first term. One (of many) reasons is because of the offset in energy costs which drives down the costs of EVERYTHING.

This is all your side has. Do yourself a favor and just relax. There’s nothing you can do, and you will benefit from a lot of things he’s doing.
I think some fact checking is in order. The tariffs were never fully implemented. So that is why. The bottom line is Trump is using the tariffs to negotiate, a big stick approach. But if fully implemented would result in significant increases in the cost of goods. Technically not inflation as it would not be a recurring increase.

Tariffs change behavior. Don’t necessarily increase prices. They only increase prices if the seller decides to try and pass it on to the consumer, and if the customer decides to buy it. For goods that have alternatives from the US and other countries, not so easy to expect the consumer to eat the higher cost.
