The prophecy of MTG....

Be careful with those eclipses. Nasty things.
I am quite sure she doesn't have a clue what "God wants".
It's funny how some people like her (where I come from she would be considered a potty mouth, trailer trash redneck), want to proclaim they know the "mind of God".
If she actually was a decent human being, she might even have a few people take her seriously.

Extreme stupidity paired with religious zealotry is a dangerous combination. Add the freedom provided by the money she inherited from her successful father and you get the train wreck of a human being that is MTG.
Agree. And “religion” takes on many forms not all of which are traditional. I would argue that politics has become a religion to many…..people disowning family members because they vote for Trump, etc. I wish for the days when GW Bush was going to be the end of the Country. It was over the top but a little more civil. And in hindsight absolutely ridiculous.

My father is 87 and father-in-law 84. I do not, under any circumstances, discuss politics with either of them. They both mainline Fox 24/7 and would probably find the VDH tweet from the other thread offensively understated. Part of the reason I spend too much time on the Chat is to get my liberal views out of the system so I can maintain good relations the two arch-conservatives in the family.

Discussing politics was an important part of the family dinner table growing up, but those days are gone. It’s a shame.

You don't really have to argue that. And wow, the stuff you are saying is exactly what I hear, except you got the wrong side. All of that Evangelical/Fundamentalist Christians say about Democrats, with GWB and later Trump being "God's giving us one last chance". Make no mistake here who does this repeatedly. I've rarely, if ever heard Democrats talk about God with their politics. That is an extreme right point of view. Equating your suffering with Jesus', that's not a left thing. Selling Bibles as a fundraiser, not a left thing. Standing in front of a church and holding up a Bible after clearing your path to do so by tear gassing protesters? Not a left thing. To be fair, only one "right" politician has done those three things. But his "disciples" eat it up like a three year old with a bag of M&Ms.

Tell your father and FIL I will pay their subscription if they sign up and come to the Chat.

Father knows best 😀

recessive gene???……oops, maybe that is a learned thang.
I suspect his father worked hard and was successful. Willdup raised given everything he wanted becomes a liberal. I see it all the time in kids raised in a well off household. They don’t understand the hard work their parents put in to get there.

Don’t take this personally, but you are as wrong about this as you are many of your political views. I was given an exceptional education through high school, which is a privilege, and that was it. I worked my way through UGA waiting tables (tuition was $550 a quarter when I attended, which helped) and I earned every penny of what I have now.

It is funny that so many people believe that anyone who works hard has to be a Republican, particularly given the current state of the party. Trump is a nepo-baby whose father bailed him out multiple times after bad business decisions before leaving him $413m when he died. His list of bankruptcies and unpaid creditors is longer than his list of successes and he’d almost certainly be worth more if he had put his inheritance in an index fund.

MTG inherited a very successful business from her father, so I wouldn’t exactly call her success the product of her own ingenuity and hard work. In fact, there’s not much evidence that she was highly involved in the business, which profited greatly from its participation in federally subsidized low income housing (sounds like socialism to me).

Some of the smartest and most successful people in our history hold more liberal views. Warren Buffett is the most successful investor ever, he lives modest life and I’m sure, given his views, you think he’s a communist.

The current GOP does not have the market cornered on successful, hard-working supporters. In fact, the hypocrisy of people like Trump and MTG (who also both share a very colorful sexual history) tends to repel many of us.

Ever thought of the possibility they are right and you are wrong? What did their generation build? Compare and contrast that to your accomplishments.

Trimming the fat as they say could be used to get rid of her

Y’all fellas need to find someone else to elect in your district

This sums up my feelings on politics perfectly.

This is a reasonable take. However, there was a study done on political views and whether they were mainstream or far off center. Liberals have moved way further off center than conservatives in the last 50 years. I read about it in the NYT about one year ago.

The likely culprit is the gerrymandering that occurs in the House of Rep and state houses. This creates a pathway to extreme views.

MTG is such an abomination. That this woman could hold any elected office is sad.
Have you seen any of her workout videos? She could kick your ass. And mine. She can be a little crazy, but what women isn't. Overall I like her position on most issues.
