This is MAGA?

Question for you: how do you feel about the 1980s GOP? Specifically, vis a vis foreign policy?
I know. It is as anti Russia as it gets. I get it. I realize the mantra was to hurt Russia at all costs. Whatever we can do to weaken them. I grew up during that time. I think we have done a pretty good job of doing just that. But it has costs the world a lot. Along with what it has done to the Ukraine. Which we will have to help rebuild. It was imperative that we help the Ukraine defend themselves. I have no issue with what has happened. I am just of the opinion that it is time for the world to be in a little less chaos. We have our hands full in this country. And we can’t keep funding them with some kind of conflict with China not in the too distant future. Also, haven’t enough people died already?

Good. Let’s hope Russia does the right thing.
It makes the timing of the attack you were bemoaning above a lot more interesting. Fair to speculate that Zelensky was reminding Putin that Ukraine has the ability to cause pain well beyond the poor conscripts that Putin is willing to endlessly feed into the Ukrainian defenses.

As I said, force and blood are the only effective ways to communicate with Putin. Now let's see what the ceasefire terms are and how Russia responds.

I don't disagree.....the problem is that Putin truly doesn't give a shit about losing people on either side. Can't imagine that drone attack wasn't carried out with some US intelligence.

Small but important correction. The name of the country is Ukraine. Russia refers to it as "the Ukraine", which is an intentional diminution of the country into a province or region.

Or fair to say, I am going to get in the last jab before I sign a cease fire. Making you look bad if you attack again before signing. It was their largest from attack to date. Kind of sounds like he wanted a last chance to kill some Russians before he capitulated. Which he did. The Russians attacked them on Saturday. I am not bemoaning him wanting to hit back. If you don’t think zelensky knew what was about to happen right after the attack, you are being naive.

Cognitive dissonance. There are two schools of thought within the right pulling against each other. 1) Let's withdraw from the world and focus on ourselves, and 2) We need to end the war in Ukraine because of death.

That's a fine line to walk.

You either didn't read my post or didn't understand it.

I suggested that not only did Zelensky know what was about to happen, he executed the attack for the specific purpose of demonstrating Ukraine's ability to strike deep within Russia. This helps remind Putin of what's at stake in not agreeing to the thirty-day deal, which is the only kind of reminder Putin is likely to take seriously.

Misread it. Sorry about that. Work got in my way. Completely agree with your take here.

It’s also time for other countries to pick up the slack. Europe is perfectly capable of having a better defense against Russia.

Well sure. Problem is, if other countries "pick up the slack," and we're surrendering influence all over the world, don't be surprised at all if you disapprove of the way they pick it up.

I don’t think we will surrender too much influence. They will still depend on us. Hell. We are giving money to damn near every country on planet earth it seems like. If I don’t like it what happens, I will eat some crow. But if it helps this country, I expect you to eat some as well.

Yeah, but it's not a zero-sum game. Everything, everything has an associated cost. We are the richest, most powerful country in the history of the world, and this whole "let's-turn-the-world-order-on-its-ear" policy is incredibly risky.

This is the new Vice Chair of the DNC. Classy guy.
