wonder how they bribed Charlize Theron to appear in the Mad Max remake

i'm sure they didn't have to bribe her...

She's done a ton of low key movies, like The Road, another post apocalyptic movie. She's working with George Miller, who is known as one of the best directors to work with. For fans of the original trilogy, it's a long time coming. it's not a remake, though.

I don't believe you can replace Mel Gibson in that role, but no one will work with him anymore.

The Road, that the one Viggo keeps preparing to shoot his son before being

eaten? That shat was deep.

I had read they weren't going to use much CGI ...

I loved seeing that because I loathe too much CGI. You start to feel like you are just watching a video game without the benefit of being able to play the thing. I guess they changed their minds. Looks like CGI central to me. I'm one of those that prefer the look of 2001 Space Odyseey and the first Star Wars movies to almost any space movies today.

Also, I might be wrong, but I don't think it is a remake of Mad Max. I think the movie is set in the time frame between Mad Max and Road Warrior.

Re: i'm sure they didn't have to bribe her...

As I stated just above, I believe the movie is set between Mad Max and the Road Warrior, so Mel would be looking mighty old to be playing a Thirty Something.

Yeah...seriously. I was depressed for a month after watching

it..plus Omar from "The Wire" had a cameo in it. He wasn't the tough Omar in that movie.

Re: i'm sure they didn't have to bribe her...

you're correct on the CGI...it goes back to real car crashes and explosions. it's one long car chase sequence for the most part, according to Miller, with very little dialogue. Seems like I read Theron's character was the antagonist in the story, but don't quote me on that.

Miller said he wanted to make the movie a long time ago, but schedules, money, etc, wouldn't allow it. Then Gibson had his melt down and he just felt sorry for him; that it wasn't the same man he knew that was Max 20 years earlier. I would've liked to have seen Gibson at least have a cameo in this one. The Road Warrior is still my favorite sci fi movie, with Blade Runner being a close second.

I did a scene with "Omar" in Kill The Messenger, only about 12 people saw

it last year. I'm the prison guard escorting him to an interview room. About 20 minutes into the film.

It's free right now on Amazon.com- watched trailer for it yesterday ..

and did not watch it because it looked like a shitty movie.
