Good Morning Dawg Nation

Whoop whoop it's Friday!!

Guess it's good that the team that won because we beat ourselves is headed to the NC #stillsalty
Gotta love Freeman though....seems like a good dude!

Hope everyone is safe in this weather..... y'all be careful out there this weekend!

Crazy portal happenings.... I won't even pretend to understand but like many here (and not so many 😅)
I trust the man in charge. Plus, I think we need to wait and see what happens with the staff when all is said and done.

Speaking of portal.....my nephew went in (which means nothing to most on the Vent) and will be headed to Samford to finish his degree and college career. Super proud of him and he's still a Bulldog!

Praying for all those on the LDGMDNOPL and the GMDN gang too 🙏🏻

Happy Birthday/Anniversary if you're celebrating today 🥳 🎉

Love you guys and gals, MEAN IT!!

Go Dawgs ♥️

🚨 D’ville’s Fake 321 NYE Sugar Bowl Edition 🚨

This week’s Fake 3-2-1 is for those we lost in 2024. I’m missing my good boy Rex terribly, and I know there are many of you missing people or pets from your life who left us this year. Let’s all raise a glass today to those who didn’t make it to 2025 but who we desperately wished had. If you want to mention someone you lost in 2024, list them below so we can toast to their honor. Let’s get after it.

1. Notre Dame doesn’t screw around. No, seriously, they’re not allowed. Listen to Dawg legend Isaiah McKenzie express concerns about not being able to use his “Joystick” whilst in South Bend

2. 3-0. There are 10 schools - including Northern Illinois- who have played Notre Dame and never lost. The Dawgs are 3-0 against the Irish, and no other school is better than 1-0 against them (including Yale and UConn). We’ve beaten them in three different states; we’ve beaten them on grass; we’ve beaten them on turf; we’ve beaten them inside and outside. Tomorrow night we beat them in a playoff game.

3. 16-1. Since 2020, the Dawgs are 16-1 when we’ve had 9 or more days to prepare with the only loss at Bama this year. Kirby just doesn’t lose when he gets extra time, and all the pressure is on the Irish who haven’t won a title since The Gipper was president. If things go sideways for the Irish early, it’s gonna get tighter than a checkpoint in Belfast.

Two Questions

1. How good does Gunner have to be to win? Let’s face it: Gunner has played the best defense he’s going to play in the second half in Atlanta and for the last 3 weeks in practice. We’ve beaten Notre Dame when we completed one pass, and we’ve beaten them when we had a QB making his first start. Gunner just needs to extend plays with his legs and take care of the ball for the Dawgs tomorrow.

2. Anyone see the Leprechaun? Say yeah!

The Dawgs aren’t going anywhere no matter what happens tomorrow night. There’s been a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth about us not making big plays in the portal (some, at times, by this author even), but no one recruits high school like we do. We’re here to stay as long as Kirby is running the show.

As for the Irish, they get to focus more on the portal starting January 2 because their season is coming crashing down like confetti in Times Square.

Question on NIL and Portal.....

When a player signs with UGA or any other school, whether out of high school or through the portal, how does NIL money actually work?
Just say a player gets 50K to sign with a school. Is that money given up front, made in payments, or incentive based?
Then what happens if that same player transfers to another school with another NIL package. Does the player have to return any part of the money he received on the first NIL deal? Does the new school he is going to have to reimburse the first school? Or does the player get to transfer as many times as he wants and just keep all the money from all his NIL deals? All this crap is crazy to me, just trying to understand. As a CFB fan of 50 years, it looks like the sport is on its way to imploding. Maybe what comes out on the other side will be something more stable.
TIA

The Explosive Plays Theory has put the Sec in jeopardy

The Sec has always been known for smash mouth physical football. Playing great defense and running the ball. The key when facing a talented explosive offense is to limit their chances to hit those plays. ASU showed that running 97 plays against Texas. Vandy has done it all year.

Osu has an offensive juggernaut that only a few defenses can hang with but they can eventually make plays on anyone. Instead of taking chances on drive stopping low percentage throws downfield, there is a time to just pound the ball and keep the ball. I hope Bobo and Kirby can realize that. Especially since the WRs have struggled all year. Let ETN eat. He will eventually break something.

NonDawg Mizzou caravan

On my way out from Columbia (MO) this morning, heading east. Multiple vehicles rolling along I-70 towards St. Louis - and Nashville beyond. Flying their cute little Mizzou flags on their cute little Tiger cars. And their adorable little Tiger stickers all over.

I said it out loud. To no one in particular. Because, mainly, I was driving alone to go fetch some grandkids from the Bootheel corner of Misery. Had to say it, "Follow me to the Irrelevant Bowl". "C'mon, everybody. We're #1! Go Tigers!"

I hope they win. These folks are pretty pitiful when they lose.
