Tyrin Lawrence

Looking at Lawrence’s turnover stats, they are about the exact same as last year, 1.9 per game, but a closer look at Bart Torvik and his numbers tells a different story.

if you look at 2023 and 2024 at Vandy, he was in the green on turnovers, now he is in the red with us. His numbers in conference games this year are not good so far.

His efficiency numbers were good in 2023 in Vandy when he was on a solid team with good players. This was when Lawrence went into the portal and was in extremely high demand but ended up staying at Vandy. In 2024, his efficiency number went down as he was asked to do more on a team that was not good and he was in less demand in the portal after that. Now in 2025, it’s been a struggle in conference for him. Not sure if he is on a cold spell, if we are asking him to do to much, if it’s our system, or him just not being as comfortable in a new place. He looked good in the St John’s game from a driving stand point. Conference play has been tough on him this year. Will be interesting to see how he looks down the stretch here.

Which true freshmen will see the field...

I know the answer to this question is "complicated" based on a player's skill level and philosophy of our coaching staff, but which of the highly promising incoming freshman do you think have a chance to earn meaningful playing time (not resulting from gaps created by injuries)? I'm hoping E. Griffin is as good as expected - some hyping him as the next J. Carter. As a side note, it remains a mystery to me (and a host of others) why E. Robinson did not see the field more this year.
