I know some of the libs on here are not Jonathan Turley fans but i think he is fairly good, certainly takes a pro conservative slant most of the time but that is what he is paid to do.

Couple of lines i found interesting:

The calculus of Alvin Bragg is now obvious. He is counting on the jury convicting Trump regardless of the evidence.
Judge Juan Merchan, in my view, has failed repeatedly to protect the rights of the accused in this case.

But if he wants to show he is truly neutral, Merchan should grant the motion for a directed verdict.

You will color me totally shocked if Judge Merchan does a directed verdict of innocent which would in effect hand Trump the presidency. However, i agree with Turley, this is all Bragg's got? Cohen and Stormy? No more real evidence. You are trying a president of the US with this amount of evidence? Oh my..........

I would like to know what company or agency supplied the jury pool for that trial. If anyone has that information, please post it. That is how trials are really rigged. I'm not saying it is rigged, just saying that aspect of the process has to be saeguarded. Many places now use private companies and that is VERY dangerous.

Even Fareed Zakaria has thrown in the towel. I think the Ds have screwed it up so badly, Trump wins no matter who they replace Biden with.

If Trump is acquitted and gets big bounce in the polls Biden will be replaced at the convention or should say highly likely to be replaced….

Don’t know where they came from. But they are all Dem supporters.

Just another reason we shouldn't privatize government functions.

Such BS. Trump is so guilty and such a liar. His only hope is a white nationalist on the jury disregards the overwhelming evidence and votes not guilty in spite of the evidence and hangs the jury. You MAGA Trumpers need to get a life and wake up and realize our democracy is at stake if Trump is re-elected. Put country over racism and your tax breaks (if you are wealthy).

This has always been a weak case. Of course Trump paid money to keep a story out of the headlines that he thought would hurt his campaign. I think anyone looking at this reasonably thinks that is likely what happened. I guess it is technically a felony if they can prove he was directly involved and they can prove his motive. However, what everyone thinks happened and what can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt are different things. Plus, there is the "so what" factor. I think a majority of people simply think isn't this the kind of crap all politicians do.

Turley says what is paid to say. The only time that he hasn't towed the line was when he wasn't paid enough. He is the only attorney that has come down on the Trump side. Why is that?

Turley has been open about trump likely losing the Florida case because the facts aren’t on his side. And there are a zillion attorneys that have called the NYC cases ridiculous.

Trump’s strange habbit of holding press conferences at the court house and printing and waving around articles of support seem to primarily include pieces from people who regularly appear on Fox (Turley, Levin, Dershowitz, Hannity). You’d think he might point to respected legal minds outside the right wing commentariat to better make his point if there is such a broad base of opinions against the case.

It’s interesting that Trump supporters don’t care that Trump likely suppressed news that he had sex with a porn star or had a mistress for a year, information which would have hurt his prospects had it come out shortly after the pu**ygrab tape. But Trump has done a very effective job of convincing people that an endless list of aberrant behavior is just business as usual. It isn’t, and these things have not happened regularly in the past. Trump is in a unique situation because he has a uniquely bad character and has committed a number of offenses unique for someone who seeks to be president. His difficulties are well earned.

Yeah, I'm absolutely certain he's the only politician who had an affair and covered it up, for political reasons. Trump is unique. No one has ever paid to keep a story quiet.

Yessir....Trump is quite an exception to the tradition of shining character, in politics.

  1. Trumps press conferences are no doubt bizzare and rambling but by all accounts have been fairly subdued in court room so i assume he is blowing off steam before and after the court appearances each day
  2. Legal scholars have been fairly consistent on this case, its highly questionable and if your last name wasn't Trump there would be no case. George Conway and a few of the never Trumpers are only ones praising the case
  3. I'm actually less convinced now the has sex with a porn star than i was before the trial. I was at about a 95% chance before the trial, now at about a 55% chance. She and Cohen are absolute nuts, bad actors only trying to get some more $$. I am highly skeptical anything they say resembles the truth.
  4. Trump has bad Character, Biden has bad character, Clinton (s) have bad character, i don't seem much difference in any of them. I don't think any created any more offenses before or during their presidency than the other. Some simly get more press and other news gets buried. I don't think any of those listed have enough character for the Presidency but neither did many of our other presidents
  5. This case is severally flawed and questionable, i still lean to Trump getting a conviction but the case is so weak and the judge so bias i'm not sure if a conviction will move the needle much especially among the minority voters that are switching from Biden to Trump,

Politicians are the worst, I agree.

It’s not any individual act that sets Trump apart, it’s the cumulative totality of issues. If you stack the Stormy Daniels story on top of the year long affair with McDougal on top of the recording of Trump laughing about sexual assault, that’s actually quite unique. I challenge you to find a similar scenario at all, much less one where the person’s political career wasn’t ended immediately.

It seems that Trump believed that had the Daniels or McDougal stories become public after the “looker room talk” tape was managed away, it may very well have lost him what turned out to be a very close election. If the prosecution can prove intent, that constitutes election interference and its absolutely worthy of prosecution.

All of which simply adds another instance of potential election interference to what is already a long list. Again, it’s the totality Trump’s choices that make his situation so unique.

I can't give you an EXACT comparison. But wouldn't you say oral sex in the Oval Office is pretty unique?

Probably not (there is a 100% likelihood that Kennedy had sex in the OO), but lying about it under oath certainly was unique and Clinton was rightfully impeached for it.

Clinton was highly flawed (I never voted for him) but it’s an interesting comparison between Clinton and Trump. Newt and the GOP really created the template for what Trump has been dealing with, and the only thing they got to stick with Clinton was the lying under oath. Trump’s efforts to evade justice seem significantly more challenged.

What does that asinine comment have to do with my post?

Glad you finally said something that makes sense.
It really makes no sense, unless you despise the United States and freedom. Other than that, the Dems and pubs. are all crooks. Our government is serving themselves, of the people.

So you can't defend Trump. Instead you talk about something else. It never changes.

Oh Yes, I can defend Trump! He is the only politician in my lifetime hat has improved the setting for American citizens in his term (with no help from either party)! Trump had the world in order Putin would not have invaded Ukraine nor Hamas would have attacked Israel. We were energy independent, fuel was under $2 , groceries were cheaper, Jobs were coming back from overseas because Trump gave the companies incentive to bring the jobs back. Every line item you can think of that is good for the USA and its citizens was better under Trumps LEADERSHIP. We do not have leadership toady, just government stooges that only care about themselves.
