Special interest and lobbyist will raised their ugly heads and my fear is that even some GOP leaders will cave to the pressure.
If they can get these government spending reforms done, it will be transformative. Imagine cuts that would result in a balanced budget or even paying down the deficit? Imagine the gain of trust in the American public knowing that their hard earned tax dollars are finally being spent in a reasonable manner. The markets will probably go crazy and the economic outlook will be brighter. Imagine taking tax dollars currently being wasted and use it to rebuild inner cities and infrastructure.
Please GOP, don’t get in the way.

I wondered about that myself. There is going to be a trail of tears here that may be a little ugly. Some real people and families will be affected. This is long, long overdue. But it is going to be messy for sure. I am glad they are being transparent

It’s got to happen if we’re going to have a future. There has to be a reboot of how and what government does with tax dollars. Some of the stuff we finance is just silly and foolish.

There are going to be some good public servants that end up getting hurt BUT good people get hurt in the private sector every day. This will be no different than the times when you hear of a large corp laying off thousands due to changes in the business climate. Additionally, I'm guessing this team will try to accomplish a lot of the cuts thru natural attrition and not sending out a million pick slips in a couple of months.

Now, the rats and roaches are going to try to defend their existence when the lights are flipped on but we need transparency so the American public can get an idea how much money is being spent in the dark. At that point the voters can decide how to move forward.

As a retired, 30 year government leo/usmc, you would be shocked at the ineptness of the Gov. Can't fire certain supervisors/employess. Good workers getting wore out carrying unsat workers. Amount of workers still working remotely, it is a mess. Dept of ed needs to be reduced by at least 50%, IRS 60%. The stories that could be told. People on admin leave for 1-3 years, security clearances revoked for no reason and some kept while f@@king up. Wray/SS head would be my first trophies.

Would like to see companies set up to offer private employment to some of those laid off positions….who then provide the same service to the government but for a fee. Run efficiently and without the dead weight.

well, they won’t really recommend anything that isn’t already approved by the legislature.

Military
Social security
Medicare

Those 3 are 60% of our budget. So even if you cut discrentiary spending, that would only offset the impending tax cuts. This will be neutral or highly inflationary. Add in the tariffs and I think you see inflation go crazy. Sure want to be wrong.

tariffs if you move jobs overseas and tariffs on goods from countries that charge tariffs on us. They said tariffs would cause inflation during trumps first term. How that work out?
So far, China has either imposed or proposed tariffs on $110 billion of U.S. goods, representing most of its imports of American products.

What are they going to do about the lobbying of big corporations and pharma. Are they going to do anything about them.

If you want to get companies out of the lobbying business - there really is an easy fix: stop regulating them. Lobbyist only exist when companies want something from government. Stop getting in- between a company and its’ buyer….and poof….no more lobbyist.
