Look for J Powell to use his speech to affect trade policy tomorrow….

This isn’t necessarily a criticism, and I don’t think Powell is political at all, but I do think he has cover in this regard given there is so much negative discussion about tariffs. And I think his job is a lot easier if the trade war is concluded with lower tariffs. And he knows the WH will continue to relent if the market gets nasty.

He can move markets. And in this case he can move policy. Tomorrow is gonna be a nasty day in the markets. Trump will predictably criticize Powell when it is.
