Yep…..would think the liability would fall on the ship owner. Hope he has good insurance. What ever happened to “you broke it you fix it”?
The student loan debt forgiveness would pay for it, but........ Not.

But I hope the shipping companies help with the cost.Interstate Highway System - Wikipedia

Yall, this is standard federal policy. Quit being dumb on purpose.
Only in taxes. LolBut I hope the shipping companies help with the cost.
I'm not being dumb. I'm saying the student loan debt forgiveness monies would look good if we it to put into the interstate highway system.Interstate Highway System - Wikipedia

Exactly. Big Government Sucks.Because the fed gov collects 18.4 CPG on every gallon of gasoline sold in the U.S. and 24.4 CPG on every gallon of on road diesel sold in the U.S. for the purposes of maintaining our roads and bridges. The question is why the fed gov is diverting about 1/2 of the money collected on other projects and then whines about the need for more money for infrastructure without a lot of push back.
They need to sue those companies to recover some costs. I think they will but cannot wait for it to play out in legal battles since it’s urgent to get the road back up asap. At least that is what a good leader would do so who knows. Biden thinks we grow money trees in the US.Yep…..would think the liability would fall on the ship owner. Hope he has good insurance.
Because Joe Blow likes to spend our tax dollars. 😡What ever happened to “you broke it you fix it”?
You could say that about literally any budgetary spending. Most of the time they are sourced from completly different funds. It's not as if the governments just has one big bank account that use as a checking account to pay for shit. These things have nothing to do with each other.I'm not being dumb. I'm saying the student loan debt forgiveness monies would look good if we it to put into the interstate highway system.
I didn't say don't build it back. Read better and stop being dumb.
The ship is likely registered in some third world shithole like Libya or pananma. I don’t think you get a dime out of the owners, I don’t know. They need to sue those companies to recover some costs. More than likely, most of the financial fallout is likely with the insurance industry. I know that Uncle Joe says his intentions are to pay for the entire cost of the bridge, but it seems as though he needs the support of congress to do so.They need to sue those companies to recover some costs. Not really. Most bridges are built on and owned by local governments.Because it's a part of the interstate. Which makes it the Feds problem. That's kind of how it works.
This one is not. It's a part of the interstate. Most

Nope. Probably owned by state of Maryland. Bridges are normally privately owned.Because it's a part of the interstate. Which makes it the Feds problem. That's kind of how it works.
You can click the link that literally states that it's a part of the interstate, making it the responsibility of the federal government. Or you can just guess. But it's an interstate highway. Hell they done spent that.Maybe take some of that Ukraine $$$ ?!?!?!?

Operated by the MTDS. Tolls controlled by the MTDS.
Look at the I in I-695. I believe you can do it. Don't give up.Most bridges over rivers are owned and operated by the state jurisdictions.
You're not. This is why Maryland can collect toll money for those crossing the bridge.Operated by the MTDS. Tolls controlled by the MTDS.
While I might be wrong, the site references Maryland ownership. The interstate system stop at the bridge and starts at end of bridge for most bridges in the US.
Again, I might be wrong.
Yep…..from what I understand, it will not be funded federally if there will be tolls. However, some of this has been grandfathered in, so who knows…..have read nothing definitive. You're not. This is why Maryland can collect toll money for those crossing the bridge.
@Utley1992Lloyds of London CEO has said this claim would be in the $2-4B range, so the insurance industry already knows it is in for a big payout. My guess is the Feds will appropriate the funds immediately so the work can begin, and then recoup the costs from the insurance once the claim is settled.
Bc it doesn't really contradict what I've said? All I said was that given that it's on the interstate, the federal government is responsible for maintaining it. The Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining the interstate. That's relates to the state vs federal part. The idea the the DoT could sue the company responsible seems possible to me. I really don't know. But the Feds are in charge of the interstate. Such a basic concept I'm surprised many here can't understand that.@Utley1992
The OP asked this:
“Why would the Federal government pay for the Key bridge?”
You said this:
“Because it's a part of the interstate. Which makes it the Feds problem. That's kind of how it works.”
Why are you liking this post and what in the FF are you even arguing?
Though heavily funded by the federal government, Interstate Highways are owned by the state in which they were built. In addition, the Key bridge was built with state funds raised through a bond referendum. Interstates are maintained by the states, not the federal government.Bc it doesn't really contradict what I've said? If we're just hurling insults at one another, your wife probably hasn't cum in years and you're likely an overweight alcoholic begging for a .45 induced nap. Or, we can have an actual discussion. I honestly don't even know what you're arguing at this point. Are you “being dumb on purpose” or are you just naturally that way??
Whichever it is, thinks your are definitely FOS. Probably innate, but don’t worry about it…..you’re stuck with it, nothing you can do.
