People have stopped expecting their elected officials to behave an ethical way, because the elected officials know they do not have to. Your viewpoints here are spot on tiv if we lived in a vacuum. If we could snap our fingers and fix both sides it would be great. The analogy you used is a good one. But is missing ten different important pieces to the conversation. Because the parents are also being pardoned for a faulty investigation into both sons. While the kids did wrong, the parents are allowed to punish without impunity or accountability. And the media covering the punishment, will only report a story that is pertinent to their agenda. While covering up one parent having early onset dementia, and the other’s penchant for excessive force. What race are the kids? This is important today. Are they non binary? If they aren’t a certain race or sexual orientation the media could give a shit. Hell, the media could be responsible for building statues for them after the fact. Even after holding a knife to their pregnant girlfriend’s belly.

I have always respected your opinion. You have been one of my favorite posters for years. You know this. We should expect our politicians to be better. That is why I wanted a reset prior to this election. Two new candidates, but we have who we have. I actually believe it turned out as well as it could going forward. Seems like a united front for change. And god knows the country needs to try something different. Even you as a pure Trump hater have to admit his demeanor and rhetoric is different this time around. It isn’t perfect, but he didn’t wait. He got right to work, and is putting in place what the majority vote wants. Let’s see if it works. I had the same opinion when Biden did his thing. I posted on this board, well at least when his polices fall flat and f the country up, we will be rid of it once and for all. You have the same chance with Trump.

AI reminds me of the Segway bike thing. We were told this would change everything and we will all be using them. Didn't happen but is still around and it has had an influence.
AI has functionality issues that everyone ignores and may not be able to ever delivery on the grandiose promises they make. There are trillions of dollars to be made by certain people so all of the issues and negetives will be ignored.

All that being said, there are positive benefits and somewhere someone is going to get the benefits, why not us? If an enemy is able to find a way to use it against us we should be prepared to use this for defense purposes. There are risks you mentioned and we have to whatever we can to protect against those but if we ignore it, none of that will matter because we will all be speaking Mandarin.
